Loren, Jace and I had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate Kiana's graduation from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. My parents and Cam and Mary's family were able to be there as well. Jace had his first flight on Wednesday night when we flew out from Salt Lake. A few words of advice to future parents: never fly with a ten month old. They have no interest in toys, shows or anything other than wanting to get off your lap. Haha, it was rough but thankfully the flight was less than an hour and a half so we made it. My dad and Nate came to pick us up from the airport and drove us 30 minutes to our VRBO in Glendale. It was a really nice home. There were five bedrooms upstairs along with a game room and downstairs included a big kitchen, living area and it even had a pool outside, complete with waterslide. It turned out to be the perfects spot to relax and have a home base at.
Once we got to the vrbo it was ten at night. We realized to our dismay that even though a pack and play was listed on the site, there wasn't one in the home. Nate took off to Walmart at 10:30 to buy a pack and play for Jace. Nate did so much for us while we were there. I seriously have THE best brothers who would do anything for you. I am the luckiest!
The next morning we got ready and went to the school for Kiana's graduation! It was so fun to see the places Nate and Kiana have talked about for four years now. The ceremony was amazing, definitely a step up from your usual college graduation. There was a quintet performance and the graduates followed two men playing bagpipes as they left the building. Kiana has worked and studied so hard to get to this day. Nate said he took 57 flights to and from Utah to visit her every other weekend since he was working in Utah while she was in Glendale. I'm so happy for them both to have reached this milestone. Kiana is so impressive and I admire her determination and perseverance to push through the hard times.
Congrats to Doctor Rigby!! She looked beautiful!
Kiana and Jace
Nate, Kiana and my parents
Adeline, Jace and Greyson. Jace was reeeeally tired, haha.
The kids were rockstars through the ceremony.
It was HOT and we definitely weren't used to it. Us girls and kids got to ride in a golf car back to the parking garage while the boys tested their mettle in the heat. Nate carried Jace's carseat the whole way because he said he needed a workout. He definitely got one!
After the ceremony we went to the Firebirds restaurant. It was really yummy and the chef made Kiana a graduation dessert.
Love these ladies! My mom, Kiana, Jamie, Adeline and Mary.
We had lots of fun in the pool! Even Jace got in for a few minutes.
This was Jace's favorite spot. He could have stayed and splashed here all day.
The next morning Loren took my parents to the airport to catch their flight home. They left a day earlier than we did so mom could get ready for girls camp. Little did they know how long they'd be sitting there. There was a mechanical problem with their plane and they ended up waiting from 10 am to finally flying out at 8 pm. It was a huge bummer.
Every time Nate went to Glendale he always posted about this Tacos place. We finally got to to go one of Nate's favorite restaurants, Tacos! He wasn't kidding, it was INCREDIBLE. Seriously the best carne asada tacos I've ever had.
After that the boys went and played Pinball while Mary and I took kids back to the house to nap.
Next up was the Aquarium in Scotsdale! It was pretty cool place. I found myself looking for my kids a lot to show them things, it was weird not having them with us at a place like that.
A sloth with his head in a bucket. I kept thinking that Hudson would find it hilarious.
Mom and Dad finally flying out.
Sadly the next morning it was time to pack up and head home. Loren and I had a stressful minute trying to return the rental car and ended up making it to our gate with ten minutes to spare. Phew! Jace struggled again on the flight but finally succumbed to sleep with 20 minutes left. We arrived at the Salt Lake airport and said goodbye to Cam, Mary, Nate and Kiana. What a wonderful trip and fun memories we made together.
We're so grateful for Mom Peck taking the kids for us while we were gone. When I first saw Hudson when we got back, he cried and told me to come back later. Apparently Grandpa Peck had let him drive tractors, the girls rode horses, played all day with cousins and went to a party with a climbing wall and bouncy house. I wouldn't want to go home either! How lucky to have such wonderful family. I guess it's safe to say that everyone had such a fun little get-away!
