Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!

Here's some of Lydia's school papers.

The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.

Loren had a guys night with his cousin, Nathan and brother, Chris.  They played risk till about 12:30 am.  They didn't finish, but Loren was positive he was on the way to victory.

Take a good look at this cute picture because Allie no longer has a binky! A few days ago she bit off a piece of it and so we had to throw it away.  I didn't want to go buy another one so that was that.  It's actually been an easier transition than I thought it'd be, thank goodness.

My brother starred as Jafar in his school's production of Aladdin Jr.  This guy is a natural actor, he did so well.  It was a blast to watch him and I came out as one proud sister! Great job, Todd!

Lydia filled up her chart again.  Yay!

Grandma Swan was getting rid of some Christmas decorations and so we went picked out a few.  It's made our home so cozy and festive.  Thanks so much, Grandma!

The only place our tree will fit is right inside the door.  But it still opens, which is a plus, and we can put the top on!

  More fun preschool projects.

I was able to go to Lindsay's fashion show with Rachel and Kristen.  She did so well and was definitely one of the best ones there.  Apparently velvet has made a comeback and I'm not quite sure how I feel about that yet.

My mom never knew where her wedding dress ended up after her wedding.  Thirty years later, she found it in one of my Grandma's closets! She looks more beautiful than ever!

So the crazy week! It started out on Tuesday night when Nate, Brayd, Todd, Cam, Mary, Loren and I went to the Justice League.  Not my favorite movie but it was fun to be with everyone in the luxury seats.  Wednesday morning Emily received her endowment.  It was so special and amazing to be there with my family.  After that we all rushed to my house to surprise my parent's with a 30th wedding anniversary party.  Lindsay had made an absolutely gorgeous cake for the occasion.  Seriously, this cake is heaven itself.  It tasted even better than it looks.  We're so grateful to her for taking her time to do that.

My dad almost didn't come because he wasn't feeling well but Emily got him there, thank goodness. Brayden and Todd decorated while we were at the temple.  It was so fun! We presented them with a binder full of letters from all of their kids.  I hope they felt our love and the pride of such an accomplishment.

We had Thanksgiving with my family at Grandma's, which will soon be my parent's house, this year.  What a feast! It was a wonderfully yummy time together.

The next day Em, mom and I went up to Idaho for a bridal shower for Em and an open house for my grandparents.  They just moved to an assisted living home as it's getting harder for my grandma to take care of my grandpa.  My aunts and uncles have been cleaning out their home, getting ready to have an estate sale.  We stopped by for one last walk through their house.  Honestly it was pretty hard, I kept thinking of all the memories I made there and it felt a little like grandma and grandpa had died.  I was able to take a few animal toys that remind me of my time there.  I also wanted to take pictures of each room so I can always remember.

I remember as kids we'd sit at this organ and push all the stops up and down.

We went to the assisted living home after Em's shower to see their new home.  It was perfect and we all felt that they needed to be there.  So grateful for my grandma and her influence in my life.

Saturday was another bridal shower for Em in Nibley with the Rigby's.  I also snagged a dress for the wedding for $20!! Gotta love good deals.  It was such a wonderful week and I'm grateful for the memories we were able to make.  Though I think now is a great time for a nap.

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...
