Our Hectic, Happy Halloween

Here's the behind the scenes of perfecting Allie's cute pigtails.

Loren had a few more pictures of Yellowstone I forgot to upload. Sorry for backtracking, but I better add them or they'll be lost forever.

  Old Faithful is still faithful.

  Paint pots.

  Gibbon Falls

A week before Halloween my family came over and we had a pumpkin carving party.  It was so fun! Brayden and Em made this witch masterpiece.

This was Loren and I's bat creation.

I took Lydia and Allie to the Pumpkin Walk in North Logan.  I hadn't been in years and I forgot how fun it was! Lydia loved looking at all the funny pumpkins.

This was one of my favorites. Anne Shirley breaking a slate over Gilbert's head.

  Lydia's favorite, of course. Moana!

This Star Wars one was incredible!

  Not quiiite tall enough.

We went up to Brendan's park last Sunday to celebrate Landon's birthday. I can't get over how beautiful his bench is.

Halloween was so fun and so exhausting!  We started the day off with trick or treating down Main Street in Logan with my cousin, Liz and her boy, Sam whose Lydia's age.  Liz has been living in Texas and just barely moved back to the valley a couple months ago.  We love having them back!  Lydia was a witch this year and Allie was a wizard.

Next was Lydia's preschool costume party.  All the kids dressed up and the last twenty minutes of school, they performed a few songs for the parents.  I remember singing "Mean Old Witch" when I went to Karla's preschool.  Those songs are tried and true!

Next was a birthday party for Landon (and Maddy but she's serving a mission in Hong Kong), and trick or treating around Chris's neighborhood.  I bought these costumes for us at the DI.  Loren and I never dress up and if we do, it's just haphazardly throwing something together in two minutes. Halloween has just never been our thing. But this year, I thought maybe we should try being awesome and wearing matching Greek God and Goddess costumes. It would be epic! Well, it wasn't until we were at Chris's house that Loren and I slowly realized his costume wasn't a Greek God like I thought, it was actually Jesus, crown of thorns and all. Oh boy.... the one year I try and be festive.  So, Loren went home and changed before our next party at the Rigby's and I felt resigned to the fact that we will never be awesome at Halloween.  Can we turn on the Christmas music yet??

Chris actually looked like he could pull off the mullet.

Trick or treating with Lexi, Elizabeth, and Nathan Davidson, Jon and Rachel, Lindsay, Atticus, Kristen, Chris, and Lydia.

Kristen had a great costume this year! But she always has great costumes.  I should learn a thing or two from her.

After trick or treating, and brief stop at home for Loren to change, we made our way to the Rigby party at in my uncle Bruce's garage.  It's always so much fun. There's games, dancing, prizes, laughing and so much food!

Alan (The Phantom of the Opera), Leslie (Knight), Liz (ninja), Jalyn (Mary Poppins) and Scott (Bert the Chimney Sweep).

Todd (Charly Chapman), Mom (Little Red), Allie (wizard, she was too tired to pull off her hat so that worked well), and Lydia (witch)

Dance party in the dark with flashlights.

Grandma teaching us the Virginia Reel... with a little distraction.

All the kids in their cute costumes.  They all got a prize, Lydia got Lucky Charms cereal and told me it was the best night ever.  We left around 9:30 and Lydia and Allie fell asleep without a fight.  It was a fun, full day!

On Wednesdays I take Lydia to dance in Providence.  It's only 45 minutes long, so it doesn't make sense for me to drive home and then back again to pick her up.  So Allie and I hang out at a little park nearby. It's actually pretty fun to spend one on one time with her. She could go down the slide all day long! I'm not sure what we're going to do when it snows.

The other night Loren helped with a focus group and didn't make it home until 10:30. Lydia built daddy's work and said she hoped daddy would be safe and not fall off the roof.

I can't believe it's November! We're gearing up for quite an eventful two months with a wedding and the holidays.  Exciting things in store!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
