Cindy, the Sockhop and the Move

We had a blast playing pickle ball with our good friends the Petersen's the other night. The girls love playing with MJ and Max.

I loved these cute sidewalk chalk drawings!

This actually happened the other day and I literally thought the exact same thing.

We had Atticus, Livy, Tessa, Elizabeth, Gwen and Brisbane over for some summer fun! Popsicles, sprinklers and cousins make summer the best.

  Kristen captured these cute photos!

Our whole life has turned upside down in a matter of a week! Out of the blue Loren and I started throwing around the idea of selling our house. The housing market is insanely good for sellers right now which also makes it insanely bad for buyers. With the issues we've had with the water in the basement and crawlspace, we knew we couldn't get as good of a return on it in any other market. There's a huge shortage of housing right now which is sending home prices sky high. We talked to my brother, Cam who has his realtor's license, and he said other homes in our neighborhood had been selling for around $350,000. We bought our home for $224,000 so that number was sounding pretty good to us! We prayed, fasted and talked with Mom and Dad Peck about it. We felt good about selling it, and weirdly almost a sense of urgency like we needed to do it right now.
We followed the prompting and started getting our house ready to show. We knew we needed to repaint the trim around the outside doorframes but as Loren got more into it, decided to repaint the doors as well. They turned out so amazing! WHY didn't we do this four years ago?? A huge thank you to Dad Peck for helping.

We got a storage unit and started moving stuff out of the crawlspace. The goal was to make the house "show worthy" which meant everything out of the crawlspace and then bigger stuff or things we still needed would go into the crawlspace.

Allie loves her aunts and uncles, especially Maddy and Daniel!

Sunday night walks are the best. Hudson loves the "goaps".

Chris and Kristen invited us over for FHE. We had fun decorating flags and having an epic Pokemon battle.

  Storage unit is filling up!

Loren must have made five runs to the storage unit one day and on the way back he ran out of gas right as he got to the gas station. The trailblazer wouldn't start and when it finally did shook like crazy. We waited a few days to find out it broke three coils and was running on two cylinders instead of four, whatever that means. Thankfully we got it fixed which was a blessing!

Dad Peck came and put this beautiful trim around the room which brought the question again, WHY did we wait so long to do that??

In the middle of all that was the Nibley Children's Theatre! The girls practiced for seven days then had two performances. This year's show was called Cindy Goes to the Sockhop. Each parent must volunteer four hours and so this was my part. I spent like three months worth of time doing the DVD's the year before so I didn't feel guilty at all.

Practices were pretty hot so the kids were grateful for any time in the shade.

  My adorable little Magic Mouse!

  My beautiful Jukebox Dancer!

Finally it was time for the show! Thursday night my mom came and Friday night Loren's parent's, my dad and Aaron came. It was so nice to have their support. The girls did so good and had a blast!

Allie got so into it, I was really surprised.

   One, two, three, bow!

At the end they turned on some music and Allie was all about dancing. It was so funny. We had to pull her away finally after twenty minutes.

The next day was the Nibley Heritage Days Parade. The girls rode on the Children's Theatre float and loved it.

After a big two weeks we moved right on to swim lessons! This year we went to the Ovary Swim and Tri School in Wellsville. I was really impressed with the teachers and small class sizes. Also, Hudson and I could hang out on the tramp, swings and slide so that was a bonus.

Their favorite part is getting in the hot tub at the end.

I'm proud of how far they've come in just six days! Lydia can jump in the deep end and tread water and do the back stroke. Allie can go underwater without plugging her nose and swim a bit on her own.

Last Tuesday night Mom Peck stopped by and suggested we just move everything over to Avon so we didn't have to worry about keeping the house clean for showings. We decided that would be a good idea so the next day Mom, Grandma Swan, and Maddy came and packed the kitchen, closets and cleaned. Feeling blessed for such a supportive family is an understatement. We literally could not have done it without them as they kept Loren and I going. Also huge thanks goes to my mom who watched the kids for two days straight. Anyone who knows Hudson will understand how exhausting that is.
Wednesday night we had most the kitchen in boxes but nothing was taped up as I still needed to label everything. Most the house was still a mess with sorting stuff to DI and such. We took a trailer load out to Avon with our beds and dressers and that was that. We had officially moved out of our house! It didn't hit me until we were driving away. If I had known the night before was our last one in the house, I would have maybe done something memorable... but maybe not. All I knew was that things were moving quickly and I could hardly believe it was real.
The next morning at 9:00 Loren looked at his phone. To our horror, he had a text notifying him that our home had been listed on the MLS. We were told it would take 2-3 days to get it posted but apparently not! Loren's phone was BLOWING up with realtor's wanting to take their clients through the house. We sprinted out the door and I drove like a maniac to the house. The first agent was coming through at 11 AM and it was currently 9:30. Mom Peck sent out an SOS text and before we knew it, Dad Peck, Landon, Grandma Swan, Kim, and Logan were all there to help. It was probably the craziest hour of my life. We had people throwing random stuff into boxes with no rhyme or reason and running them outside. I could hear Landon saying, "This feels so wrong!" I had to agree but didn't have time to mourn the loss of my organized move. When the agent pulled up we were all sweaty and huffing but the house was mostly empty and clean. I couldn't believe we had pulled it off. What incredible family we have!! It brought tears as I thought about how they had dropped everything to come help us.
Loren was on his phone setting up appointments for walkthrough's every minute for the next three days. We had people coming every 20 minutes for those three days which added up to close to 50 showings.  By Sunday he was absolutely exhausted and I can see why people hire realtors. He couldn't do anything else other than answer texts or calls. By Monday we had 15 offers! Not one of them was at or below the asking price of $330,000. We eventually decided on a $360,000 cash offer which we're really excited about. If all goes to plan, we'll be closing on the 9th of July. It's been amazing how fast the process has gone. Our heads are still reeling but we're so grateful!
We're in the process of settling in here in Avon. We feel so blessed Mom and Dad let us stay here while we look for our new home. We're excited for this new chapter!

The past few days I've been feeling this pretty hard. So funny.

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
