Fall is definitely here! I feel like it came overnight. One day it was 90 degrees and the next it was 60. I guess that's how it goes here in Cache Valley. A couple weeks ago I took the kids to watch Todd run his race at USU. Getting there was a bit comical. I had to check Lydia out from school early and drug Allie and Hudson to and from the school in the pouring rain. I figured it wouldn't last long though so I drove up to campus. When I tried to park, I was told it cost $5. I didn't have any cash and the guy taking the money was less than sympathetic. So I drove around for like ten more minutes trying to find a spot on the street. I settled for a gas station about a half mile away and prayed I wouldn't get towed. I pulled all the kids out with their jackets, blankets, snacks, water, diaper bag, chew toys and umbrellas and stuffed it all in the stroller. I then started the half mile sprint in the rain to the starting line, afraid after all that, I would miss Todd's race. But providence smiled down upon me when I got there to realize he hadn't started yet.
It's been so fun to watch Todd run cross country. It brings back a lot of wonderful, and sometimes painful, memories! He did so good and I'm grateful we made it to watch him. It was freezing though and everyone caught a cold afterwards but it was worth it!
Our Hudson boy just turned six months! He's really growing up and if he'd start sleeping longer than two hour stretches at night, he'd be perfect.
He's been tolerating food. We're trying to make it more exciting for him. I hope eventually he'll get the hang of it.
This year Lydia's school put on a fun run for their yearly fundraiser. The kids tried to get in as many laps as they could in 20 minutes. I was so impressed with our girl! She got an award for being one of the top lap runners in all of Kindergarten. Yahoo! Maybe cross country is in her future too.
These girls love nothing better than bugs. You probably couldn't pay me to hold a grasshopper but these girls aren't afraid in the slightest. The other day as we were walking home from school, a grasshopper jumped on a girl walking behind us and she screamed. Lydia chuckled to herself and whispered to me, "Mom, she's scared of a grasshopper!"
I finally took the girls into the dentist. Allie was SUPER nervous but the hygienist was so good with her. She made it fun and when Doc McStuffins came on the TV, all was right in the world. Allie came out cavity free!
Lydia wasn't so lucky and had to have one small cavity filled. She got to smell some strawberry laughing gas and stayed as still as a statue. They couldn't have had a better patient. I don't know if she was too nervous to move or if it was the laughing gas but whichever it was, she did great. It didn't even hurt and she said she can't wait to go back again. I guess we'll take that!
A little later that day we went and picked apples for applesauce at Grandma Griffiths. We didn't even have to pick any off the tree, there was a ton on the ground that were ready. It definitely feels like fall!
Todd's race at the American West Heritage Center was a fun one! He did so good and beat so many people! We got our workout too running around watching him. So proud of him for sticking with it! It's been really hard for Todd having to quit football because of his concussion. We're so grateful he's found something that he can compete in. He has great friends on the team so that's a bonus too. He tried out for the swim team the other day and made it so it looks like we'll be going to more swim meets too!
I love fall evenings like this.
Lydia was such a great helper at the store the other day. It's a pretty great stage when your kid is helpful at the store as opposed to, well, not helpful.
When we get home from the library the girls can be found reading the rest of the day. I love it.
This little squish melts my heart. Before I had him I thought it'd be impossible to love a boy as much as my girls. Oh was I wrong! He's the sweetest, cutest little baby in all the land. I'm so grateful he's mine.
Loren's big trial that was supposed to be this week was called off until March. So I guess it's more waiting.
Bring on October and all things pumpkin spice! I sure love this time of year.
