Rewind to the week before, we had just closed on our home on Thursday, and were excited to start cleaning and making it ours. Mom and Dad Peck, Landon, Lindsay and Aaron all came to help clean, and prep for paint. It was an exciting day!
This is what the house looked like before we painted. Here's the front room.

We made quite a mess!
It took us about a week to get it all painted. And when I say us, I mean mostly Dad Peck. We owe him soooo much. If it wasn't for him, Loren and I would have given up after the second day. He had all the tools and knowledge to make each room look spectacular. What did we do to deserve him? I really don't know but hopefully we can figure out a way to repay him for all the work he did.
It's hard to express my gratitude for everyone who helped watch the girls during that time. Emily got Allie to sleep somewhere other than her bed, which is an ENOURMOUS feat. The girls sure love her.
Mom Peck watched the girls for days on end. I love her so much and grew a lot closer to her through the time we spent there. She hardly ever thinks of herself but is always looking for ways to make other's burdens lighter. She's truly inspiring and I hope to be more like her. The girls could have stayed there forever. I mean, playing in the mud? How fun is that?!
In the midst of painting chaos, Loren started his first day of work at the firm.
I was so sad we didn't go up to Idaho to watch the Solar Eclipse in totality, but it was still pretty cool from here! It was crazy how it got darker and 20 degrees cooler in the middle of the day. Lydia loved watching it through the special glasses.
Dad and Loren got to watch it too.
We always love it when Cam, Mary and Greyson come to visit!!
Dad performed at the Trout and Berry Days dinner this year. He's sounding better than ever. It was so fun to hear him and the trout and berry tarts is what I look forward to all year!
I went to the store and got Lydia a backpack for preschool and ballet slippers for dance. She didn't want to take them off.
My happy girl!
He's official!
Dad, Loren and I went to the District Court in Salt Lake to have Judge Stewart swear Loren in. It was the first time I had met the Judge. He's amazing and such a nice man. It was an honor for Loren.
Saturday, August 26th we moved. The next Thursday we were getting our new carpet in so to save $160, Loren and I pulled out the old carpet ourselves the day before. I'm sure there was an easier way, because it took us eight hours. It was dirty, back-breaking work. But I'm glad we did it. I kept thinking of the nice area rug I could buy with the money we saved. My dad came and helped for awhile and we were grateful!
Lucky penny.
Thursday night was the night before the boys flew out for Alaska. I had to take this picture of Mom making peach pie, Lindsay making banana cake and Dad making homemade granola all at the same time. The kitchen smelled really, really good.
The boys, Landon, Chris, Dad and Loren left at 3:00 am to make their flight to Alaska Friday morning. Even though all our stuff was moved in, everything was still in the garage. I decided to stay in Avon while the boys were gone and it was such a rejuvenating time! I loved being able to talk and hang out with Mom and the girls loved it too. We loved it so much that it was really hard to think about leaving. We tried to enjoy our time as much as possible.
One hot day, my mom, the girls and I went to the new splash pad in Millville. It was a fun find! We'll definitely be coming back here next year.
Allie loved the water so much! It was hilarious to watch her get so excited when it shot out.

Grandma's swimming pool is Lydia's favorite place!
Lydia's first day of preschool started off as an emotional morning, though not in the way you would think. Lydia was having epic meltdowns about everything and at one point I just sat down and bawled. The stress of the house, getting Loren ready for work and Alaska, and meeting the needs of Allie and Lydia all caught up with me. I felt like a terrible mom and like I didn't have a handle on anything. I tried to take Lydia's first day of school pictures in Avon but because of her meltdowns, I didn't get any. So this was our second attempt, right before she left. Though I didn't have time to make a fancy sign, sometimes you just have to be happy with what you get.
Lydia loved walking out to the road with Aaron, Allie and Grandma in the mornings to wait for Aaron's bus. A neighbor girl, Elsie, was sometimes there too. One day we were able to have Elsie over and the girls had a blast dressing up and playing princesses.
Our Purple bed frame came! Lydia helped me put it together.
The homecoming parade was a blast this year. Lindsay, Brayden and Todd were in it. The kids got a TON of candy. Lydia had to duck one time when a kid dumped a bucket load over her head.
Todd with his football team.
Brayd with the swim team.
Lindsay with the Reps.
Lindsay looked gorgeous before the homecoming dance.
Lydia's first day of dance! Mom Peck actually ended up taking her so I could go to the Kids Consignment sale and get fall/winter clothes for the girls. It was such a blessing! It sounded like Lydia had a great time.
My haul at the Consignment Sale. Yay!
Lydia and I had a makeover party. She used her make-up to make me beautiful.
We love fall walks on the Stokes Nature Trail with Grandma!
We had a great time while the boys were gone. Though some of it was stressful with trying to get the house organized, I loved our time in Avon. Now I'll let Loren tell about Alaska!
