The Move: Part One

I'm finally doing it, I'm finally updating the blog!! I honestly thought it'd be months before I had the time to do it but I finally forced myself to. This past month and a half has been... my goodness. What are words to describe it? It's hard to say. Loren quit his job at the Court, we closed on our house, packed up and moved, started a new job while re-painting the whole house, re-carpeted, Loren went to Alaska for 11 days, we moved again, started pre-school and dance for Lydia and adjusted to a new schedule, routine and life. Thus, the overwhelming feeling of trying to catch up with the blog. I've decided to break up this adventure into sections so we're not all overwhelmed!
The last few weeks in West Bountiful went so fast. We enjoyed our last time at our favorite park in Woods Cross.

The grapes came on! I'm really missing those delicious morsels right now, and so is Allie. That girl could eat the whole bunch!

We traveled to Logan one day to hang out with Emily's boyfriend, now fiancee, Tyson. We went to the fair and had a blast. Lydia really warmed up to him. He's such a great guy and I'm really excited to get to know him better.

  Cuties!!

Loren and I never tire of taking snap chats of Allie.

On Loren's last day of work, he took Lydia with him to the court. They rode the train and bus to get there. Lydia was in total heaven and had such a fun time with daddy.

  Again, those snaps.

We were feeling a little stressed with packing and getting ready for the move so we decided to go to Snowbird Resort and ride the tram. It was such a beautiful, fun and relaxing day!

 On the tram.

The views were stunning! The tram took about 10 minutes to get to the top of the mountain.

Up at the top, Lydia made a friend. These guys weren't scared of us at all.

We decided to explore a little so we went on a 2 mile hike.

The wildflowers were incredible. The views really took my breath away. There's something so rejuvenating about being in nature.

We found a tunnel that went all the way through the mountain. It was cold in there!

When we got through the tunnel, we realized we'd have to hike clear back up a steep road to the top of the mountain to get back on the tram back down.. I could only imagine how hard it was going to be with Lydia. Loren suggested I take Lydia back down on a chair lift instead of the tram. There was a strict no baby policy so Allie couldn't ride. Loren volunteered to hike up the mountain with Allie while Lydia and I enjoyed the chair lift. Have I mentioned how incredible my husband is? It was so sweet of him. So off Lydia and I went to ride the chair lift.

Loren wondering if he did the right thing..

  But he's still smiling!

The mountain Loren had to climb. He's seriously superman.

He got a glimpse of the the tram coming up.

Apparently Allie slept through the whole hike.

  He finally made it! Whew!

What a fun time on the chair lift. It took us a good 20 minutes to get down. Lydia loved looking for squirrels or for little streams.

We couldn't put it off forever and as it always does, the day of the move came. We went up earlier on August 17th to close on our house. We lived in Avon for the next week while we prepped, and painted our house. Then the next Saturday, we moved from our home in West Bountiful to Nibley. We are forever grateful for all the family who helped. The ones who moved our stuff, Dad Peck, Chris, Landon, Dad Rigby, Cam, Brayden and Todd, Mom and Mary who cleaned for hours and Mom Peck for watching the girls for days. I honestly get tears when I think about how much support and love our family gives us. On the day of the move, the guys had packed the moving truck in just a couple hours! They were seriously so fast. I didn't even have time to snap a goodbye picture with Loren and I.

They put most everything in the garage since we'd be putting in new carpet.

We're moved in! Well, sort of. On to part two!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
