Memorial Day

Allie's all time favorite toy.

Lydia had her last soccer game. What a fun season! She improved so much, by the end she was actually kicking it away from other kids. Great job, Lydia!

Last week we went to Wheeler Farm with Carly, William and Gwen. Lydia and William had fun exploring and playing together. They especially liked to watch these ducks.

I had to take this picture of Lydia in a tree to show Loren I can let her do it without having a panic attack.

The highlight of the day was the wagon ride!

  What a fun day!

I about ran this snail over with the stroller but Lydia saw it and yelled at me to stop. I'd say she made a friend for life.

I tried my hand at homemade popsicles the other day. I was supposed to add coconut milk but couldn't find it anywhere at the store. I finally decided on blackberry flavored water instead. Loren informed me afterwards that coconut water is really coconut milk. What?? So they turned out pretty bland, but that didn't stop the girls from loving every lick. I guess that's all that matters.

This was the best thing Allie's ever tasted. She would scream to high heaven when Loren would take it away. He finally just gave her the whole thing and she loved it!

Saturday we had ourselves an adventure at Tracy Aviary in downtown Salt Lake. It was a pretty cool place. We got to see two bird shows and other exotic birds around the aviary.

Had to take a picture of this guy for my sister, Emily. She adores peacocks.

It was so funny to see Allie's reaction to the birds. She'd laugh, clap and sometimes growl at them. I think she really enjoyed herself.

  Can you spot the owl?

  Just chillin' on one leg.

Another Memorial Day has come and gone. It's always a special holiday. We started the day with the Annual Swan/Griffiths breakfast at Willow Park. I had to take a picture of these guys in their pastels. Chris, Loren and Nathan Davidson.

Lydia got to play Ultimate with the big kids this year. She loved it!

After a wonderful breakfast, we went over to Avon and Lindsay, Rach and I dyed our hair with Kool Aid. I actually really liked the end result! I went pretty minimal and just did my ends while Lindsay did a section underneath. She had to sit like this for an hour! Linds grabbed a mirror so she could still see the movie and Rach held her head so her neck wouldn't snap. Beauty is pain?? I think it applies here!

Next year maybe Loren's hair will be long enough to join in the fun.

We ended the day over at the Rigby's in Nibley. Uncle Alan, and Scott, their families and my grandparents were all there. It was so nice to catch up with them. I guess we'll be seeing a lot more of them with my parents moving to my Grandparents home this weekend. They'll be living there while their home is being built next door. It's always so fun to visit with them and hear what's going on in their lives.

Allie's crawling all over the place now. She loves exploring and discovering new things.

Lydia finally put the last sticker on her "Good Listener"chart so we had ourselves a Princess Party! We had a princess treat, dressed up in princess attire, watched a princess movie and had a princess picnic. I'm proud of her for filing up her chart. Now we get to start again.

I'm grateful for all the things my girls are learning and doing. They make Loren and I some pretty proud parents.

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
