I had a bunch of pictures I forgot to upload in my last post from Thanksgiving Point. So, just for me, here they are.
We haven't been able to use our Connect Pass the past couple weeks because we've been trying to get over colds. Last week Loren had a terrible sore throat and congestion. Then a few days later both the girls got it. We thought Loren might have had strep so I made an appointment for him to get a swab done. It was at 10:20 and Lydia's swim lessons were at 11. We thought that should give him plenty of time to get swabbed and be home with the car so I could take Lydia to her lesson.
At 10:42 Loren texted and said he wouldn't be done in time. Lydia was supposed to pass off a skill that day and, for some reason that escapes me now, I couldn't let her miss it. I threw on my chacos, woke up Allie (which goes against all my motherly instincts), and yelled at Lydia to get in the stroller. My phone told me it'd take 30 minutes to get there. Ha! I am a cross country runner for goodness sake. I could totally get us there on time. So with two somewhat stunned girls in the stroller, I started running towards the Rec Center. Apparently it slipped my mind that my cross country days were like 7 years ago. And I've had two kids in the meantime. And the last time I ran over two miles was.. well.. let's just say it's been awhile. Next time I decide to run two miles out of the blue, I'm at least going to put on my running shoes. As I walked through the entrance of the Rec Center, I gasped, "We..she...here....swimming.." to the lady at the front desk. I guess she understood, or just didn't want to ask questions because she let me through. I looked like I was on the verge of a heart attack, but we were only five minutes late! Boo ya, baby! And Lydia passed off floating on her back by herself so it was all worth it. I think.
I was reminded of the story of my mom who walked like five miles to get my brother to preschool because she didn't have a car. I guess it's a mom thing? We do some pretty crazy things for our kids.
Dad and Mom Peck were invited to a Community Nursing Services fundraiser. They were filmed a couple months ago about the experience Brendan had with them and it was shown in a video on the opening night. They were given a couple extra tickets and gave them to us. We were able to get a babysitter for Lydia so we went and checked it out. What an amazing event. There were lots of gorgeous art for sale and also amazing restaurants handing out delicious samples of their food. I tried Lobster Bisque for the first time and it was surprisingly delicious! I can't wait for the day when Loren and I can have beautiful art in our home. It was a wonderful event and we both had Brendan in our hearts.
Ice sculpture!
Saturday night was girls night with this beautiful girl! I've been friends with Carly since we were five. We've been through the ups and downs of elementary school, middle school, high school, college and now motherhood together. That's like 21-ish years! I sure love her and can't wait to meet her little babe in just a couple weeks.
We went to Even Stevens for dinner then the Women's Conference at the Conference Center. It was such a wonderful meeting and I felt spiritually lifted afterwards. Makes me so excited for Conference this weekend.
We've got a leftie! I'm a little perplexed as to how to teach her how to write. Or cut with scissors. Or just survive in a world that's made for right handed people. I'm sure we'll figure it out. She's doing pretty well so far.
Having fun with daddy's snapchat. Yikes, let's not do make-up yet please. Makes her look too old!
There was one day last week when I was just tired and worn out. Loren offered to take Lydia to the library to get some new books. Well little did they know, it was Countries Night at the library. There were tables set up with activities from different countries and cultures. They had a blast making masks, doing blow paint, making a coy fish and more! Pretty awesome spontaneous trip to the library.
Aaron is the king of Sorry. I'm pretty sure he wasn't at all sorry when he knocked my piece back to start! I'm going to have to practice in order to beat him.
My parents are trying to get rid of stuff so they let me take my porcelain dolls. It's been fun showing them to Lydia and telling her that these were my dolls when I was little.
