Last week was rough. Allie was teething and super miserable during the day and didn't sleep at night. I felt more or less like a walking zombie trying to keep up with my two girls. I remembered my family was going down to Saint George for the weekend to watch Brayden swim in a big meet. It sounded like heaven to hang out down there in the lovely weather and with my family, especially my sister who's going to SUU. Once Loren found out I had an inkling to go, he immediately volunteered to watch the girls. Both of them! For three days! It was so sweet of him and really, really tempting but I knew he'd be in the funny farm when I got back so I decided to take Allie to make it easier.
It was such a wonderful weekend. I forgot my camera so I didn't get any pictures, sadly. Brayden did so amazing in his meet. He's one of the top swimmers in the state and only a sophomore. Plus, he's super ripped! I was really proud of him. The first night there were six of us in a hotel room and I was worried Allie would keep people up all night. But she ended up doing better than I thought, go figure. I blasted the white noise just in case.
We had dinner with my Uncle Alan, Aunt Leslie, Ang, Sam and Brad one night. They were down getting ready to run in the half marathon. I'd love to do that race someday, it sounds really fun. It was great to see them and catch up. We spent the rest of the weekend shopping, visiting and relaxing in the hot tub. It was really rejuvenating for me and I'm so grateful to Loren and my parents for making it happen.
Lydia had a total blast with her daddy while I was gone. We've determined she's an angel child when she get's all the attention. She loves to draw on daddy's "homework" (computer). This is a whale she drew herself, pretty good!
They spent a morning rolling tennis balls down the stairs. I never would have thought of that, she loved it!
She even got ice cream!
The most amazing thing that happened was this. Loren did her hair like this for church. He's been holding out on me! I wasn't sure he knew how to do a ponytail let alone a side, twisty masterpiece. She looked so cute! Apparently there's a Dad's Do Hair youtube channel that teaches basic hairstyles that he learned from. World's best dad? I think so.
The cherry on top were these precious gifts Loren gave me when I got home. Drawings by Lydia, starbursts, and beautiful wall decor. I couldn't help but shed tears of gratitude for my wonderful husband and family. I've been blessed beyond anything I could have hoped for.
Last Sunday was a little crazy. I was called to be the 15-16 year old Sunday School teacher, which threw me for a loop. I have to admit, I wasn't as excited about it as I've been with other callings but I guess there's a reason for me to be there right now. So then in Sacrament meeting I gave the opening prayer, was sustained in my calling, and sang a musical number. As the bishop was announcing the meeting he said, "Wow, Sister Peck's name is all over this program!" Lovely. I guess that's one way for people to get to know me.
When I get overwhelmed with life, I step back and remember all of my blessings. I have two beautiful girls, an incredible, loving husband and wonderful, supportive family. What more could I want or need? Life is good.

Way to go, Loren! Wish I could say I taught you everything about being a great husband and father, but I suppose that would be going too far. Jamie, nice job on taking the chance to get away and refresh. You guys are amazing! Thanks for sharing.
