I'm So Glad I Live in a World Where There are Octobers

Anne Shirley said it exactly right! Now I'm wanting to have an Anne of Green Gables marathon.  It's been a lovely October, with temperatures in the 70's and the leaves changing colors all around. Pure beauty at its best.
We had a fun FHE carving pumpkins and drinking hot chocolate.

For Lydia's birthday and Fall Break, we went to the Loveland Aquarium with the Pecks. Lydia was on top of the world, in total fish heaven! We borrowed Finding Nemo from the library and she's been obsessed with it for weeks now, wanting to watch it everyday, twice a day if I'd let her. The Aquarium was like jumping into the movie. She about had a heart attack when she saw Dory and Nemo! She had the time of her life.

  She loves her Grandpa.

Penguins! My personal favorite. They're so cute!

After seeing all there was to see, we went to Chuck-A-Rama for lunch. Then Chris, Kristen and Atticus decided to stop by for a few hours on the way home. Lydia got to ride with them in their new truck and watch Cars. I think they're the official favorite for now.

Allie and I made a great team in Ticket to Ride. She made sure I laid the right cards.

Last Saturday we got really ambitious and hiked to Cecret Lake, which is up past Alpine Ski Resort. I never realized how big Alpine Resort is. It just kept going and going! We also didn't realize how far of a drive it was to get there and definitely didn't count on having snow. If I'd have known, I wouldn't have worn my Chacos! But it was so pretty and the girls had a blast. It was our first official hike as a family.

I just realized Allie is always short-changed in photos. She's really there, I promise!

The next morning was Sunday and Loren woke up feeling achy and burning with a fever. We had to meet with the Stake Presidency before church so Loren went, but he felt really awful. He didn't look that great either. We think he overdid it on the hike with carrying Lydia almost the whole way. Loren was called to be the Assistant Clerk over Membership. It will be a great calling and he'll get to know people really fast. Luckily he felt a lot better the next day but I don't think he'll be hiking for awhile. At least not with kids.

Happy Halloween! This year Lydia was a princess and Allie wore little Halloween jammies.

At the ward Trunk or Treat.

This is what we put together in ten minutes. I'd say it's acceptable.

The next day we were invited to see a Christmas Tree in honor of Charlie that will displayed at the Festival of Trees. It was absolutely beautiful. There are no words to describe how special it is. Many of the ornaments were made by hand. It was hard to stop the tears as we took it all in. We can't wait to see it at the festival.

The next day was Halloween. We drove to Nibley for a Halloween party at Chris and Kristen's. Lydia had a blast trick or treating.

It was Maddy and Landon's birthday so we had quite the celebration with good food and lots of fun. It was a great time.
As many people know, Halloween isn't one of our favorite holidays so we're excited now to look forward to Thanksgiving. I can't believe it's that time of year again! Time just keeps going faster and faster it seems. We're grateful for the fun memories we make with family.

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
