After such a busy week last week, I was so grateful for a relaxing weekend. Loren didn't have nearly as much to do so we actually watched 2 movies together! It was lovely and greatly needed.
Pizza time! Adeline and Lydia loved helping make the pizza. Lydia ate the pineapple while Adeline gobbled the olives.
Our friend Eve is still investigating the church. She'll come every week but no one will talk to her but us. We really want her to have other friends so that when we leave for a month in December and ultimately in May, she doesn't disappear. Loren decided to invite some members from the ward over to Eve's for a night of singing and music sharing. Eve really likes gospel music so we spent a good amount of time singing gospel songs. We were so glad that people came to support Eve and she was able to make new friends and feel more comfortable. We just love her so much!
Michelle playing the cello. She is seriously amazing. I could listen to her play all day.
The group! Damen and Morgen Reynolds family, Clint and Michelle Williams family, Brian and Jennifer Barney family, FW Willis, Eve (in the center wearing red), Jon Tucker, Missionaries, Donald
We decided to take tower building to a new level. Now we build them on Lydia's head.
It's been great to relax and be together a bit more this week. Today we got a new relief society president, Sister Cynthia Hancett. She will be great. I'm still the secretary and I guess I'm happy about it. It sure keeps me busy.
We had to take our car into the shop last week because every time we'd step on the brakes, the car would vibrate. We haven't had to take our car in while we've been here so we didn't know where would be good to go. I decided on Lee's Auto and they checked the car over. When they finished, they told me we not only needed new front and rear brake pads, but also new front and rear rotor's along with three new tires. I about swallowed my tonsils. The cost looked to be around $1,000 for everything. There was no way we could pay for all that right now. As I sat there in shock, the owner continued telling me why I needed all these things and that he wasn't ripping me off just because I was a woman. Well, how gallant of you. I'm sure glad you don't make a business by ripping off poor un-knowledable women! That busted my bubble and I decided then and there I was getting a second opinion.
Our good friend suggested another car shop and I took it there the next day. What a difference! I could tell the owner was genuinely interested in saving me money. Turns out we only needed new rear brake pads and rotors and the cost was $270. We know the Lord was watching out for us and I'm so glad there's honest people in the world. Car problems are just bleh.
Well on to another week, thanks for all your love and prayers!
Way to go, Jamie! I hope there is a place to report (maybe Better Business Bureau) (or local paper) this business. Send company #1 a Thank You note thanking them for helping you find a much better, more trustworthy auto repair business that you will be going to from now on and recommending to other law students by being jerks. Assure company #1 you will be happy to spread the word of their devious customer services. OK...now that I have that off my chest, I am so glad you were able to find the help you needed. And just remain sweet n' nice. Don't get old and cranky like Gma Swan :-)
