Brendan is 11 years old! We started out his birthday by going rock climbing. This boy is a little mountain goat! He wasn't afraid of anything and just scurried up the rock in less time than it took me to get my harness on. There's no doubt there will be rock climbing in his future.
I actually made it to the top!
What a fun time!
We also went bowling with the fam, then came home for cake and ice cream. Thanks for having a birthday, Charlie!
A couple days after Brendan's birthday was the 4th of July, my favorite holiday! We started out the day at our annual breakfast with the Rigby's. This year we were in the backyard instead of the cul-a-sac to beat the heat. Pancakes, hash browns and sausage were all on the menu. Yum! We missed Alan and Leslie's family as they were in Texas visiting Liz. Lydia preferred jumping on the "boingy boingy" rather than eat.
Next was the flag ceremony.
National anthem
And the parade! This year was particularly vicious in saving seats. Emily and I went down a week before the parade and set up our chairs. The next day as we were driving past, we noticed all our chairs were thrown to the side and someone else's were in their place. To say I was mad would be an understatement. I knocked on the door of the house right behind the chairs but no answer. Probably lucky for them. After calming words from my mom, I decided to be the better man, or woman in this case, and let it go. I made no promises about not giving them nasty looks or stealing all their candy though. In spite of that calamity, it turned out to be a fun parade. Lydia was mesmerized with everything and got her fair share of taffy.
Em, throw us some candy!
This was the first year we actually took a good picture of Lindsay. Usually she's on the other side of the road and we can't tell where she is until it's too late.
After the parade we went to Travis and Stacey's for the Swan lunch. We had pulled pork sandwiches lots of salads. Lydia loved playing outside and then came in and took a three hour nap. It was a nice, relaxing afternoon. We spent the evening back out at the Rigby's visiting and playing games then we took an exaughsted Lydia back home to bed. What a fun day!
A few nights ago we were going n Avon and Loren's cousin, Audrey was there. She's a little older than lydia and I thought it was adorable how Audrey would lead Lydia around wherever she went. Cute girls!
