Family: The Center of Our World

Loren has discovered a new favorite hobby: rock climbing! He and Sarah go quite often, and he loves the challenge and thrill it brings. They talked me into going once and I was amazed at how good they were, just scaling the rock like it was nothing.

Look how high I am! Ha, not really. This pic is deceiving, I'm only like 3 feet off the ground and about to call it a day.

Todd and Brendan had an end of year awards assembly. They both received a ton of awards! We were all so proud.

Here's Todd getting ready to exit the door of his childhood elementary school days.

Taking the step into the world of mature adulthood.

Now an official mature middle schooler.

Just a girl and her grandpa.

Lydia enjoying her first Popsicle with Emi.

Dad and mom Peck went to California for a few days and we were lucky enough to get to stay in Avon and hold down the fort. Not that we even did very much, the girls made all the food, drove kids around and made sure jobs were done. I got the easy job of playing games and having fun with the kids. We had a great time! Friday morning we stood by the road and sprayed down the Ragnar runners as they passed. It was so hot, kudos to those runners! We were filmed by the news, got silly string sprayed by a passing van, received more than a couple dirty looks from passing vehicles when we accidently sprayed them instead of the runners, and were thrown taffy and a stuffed animal for Lydia. I'd say it was a successful morning!
The spray crew.

Saturday we swam at Hyrum Dam. I meant to get a pic of everyone but by the time I thought of it, most of them had already left. We had a great time making sand castles and jumping in the waves.

We had planned to go down to southern Utah for my familys reunion but it ended up being too hot so we stuck around home instead. It turned out to be a blast! One day we went to the Aquatic Center. I was nervous that Lydia would hate it, as every time we've gone to the splash pad it's been quite traumatizing, but she ended up loving it! Her favorite part was going down the slide with daddy. By the end of the day I had to drag her out of the water kicking and screaming (literally).

  Lydia loves her cousin Greyson!

Taking her big cousin responsibilities very seriously.

Look mom! I helped him eat them all at once!

Lydia loves this little pool and slide. It's definitely her place of zen, and subsequently mine.

Todd, Brayden and Em filled up a ton of water balloons and we had fun playing water balloon volleyball.

Is this not the epitome of summer? Ice cream and swimming.

Cute little cousins!

We decided to have a family Chopped competition. Cam and I were team Appetizer. We were given Capri Sun, little smokies, cinnamon, and peanuts and made smokey sliders.

Team dessert was Loren and Brayden. They were given chocolate wafers, pudding, mint leaves and Greek yogurt and made Wafer Graveyard Cake.

Don't mess with team Main Dish! Em and Mary were given penne pasta, yogurt, hominey, and strawberry wafers. They made a penne confetti pasta.

All of the dishes turned out to be surprisingly good! Todd had a migraine so he helped judge along with mom and dad. It was quite the battle, but in the end team dessert took the win. They made this yogurt cake from scratch! We filmed the whole event and Brayden made an awesome movie that we watched afterwards. What a fun time! Just hope I never have to figure out how to use Capri Sun in a dish again.

Sunday relaxin' on the lawn.

We went up to USU to hear Rachel play in the Alumni band for their patriotic program. Being together with our family is something I cherish.

One of the many selfies Aaron took with our camera. This one turned out pretty good!

Then Brendan had his turn with the camera.

Lydia's favorite place to be, Grandma's lap.

We love our family!
The Fourth of July is upon us and I'm so excited! I love this holiday and can't wait for all the fun. We're also getting ready to leave for our trip to Oregon with the Pecks next week so stay tuned! Happy summer!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
