I am loving this cooler weather! It's been in the 60's and 70's the past couple of days and you can just smell that fall is in the air. I love this season and can't wait till the leaves start changing.
Well what a week it's been. Loren has been studying non-stop and by the end of the day his eyes are bloodshot. It was a rough week but he's now an official second week survivor. Yay! This is one of the gem's we took this week while face-timing mom and dad peck:
Ahh! He's so cute, I sure miss this little guy!
Tuesday night there was a meeting for the Christian Law Society at an Italian restaurant, in which they'd be serving free pizza. Free pizza?? Lately I've been slacking in ambition to make dinner so it sounded great and we decided to check it out. I was surprised at how many law students were there- around twenty or so- and they all were of Christian faith. They had a speaker talk about life as a Christian attorney- how to stay true to your values and beliefs, being honest in your dealings and things like that. We had a great discussion and it was a good reminder for me that you don't have to be LDS to have morals and values. There's so many people in the world who have good beliefs and standards. Before moving out here, I'm ashamed to say that I wouldn't really think about doing things with people who weren't LDS. I just felt more comfortable with LDS women and didn't think anyone else would want to do good, uplifting things. My perspective has changed so much as I'm meeting wonderful people who are so friendly and willing to serve, at times more than I am. It's been humbling but such a good lesson to be learning. I'm excited about the chance to be able to share my faith with these people. Missionary work is a new concept for me but I'm excited to get started.
For date night this week we went to DQ and got a shake. It was glorious and I'm convinced there's nothing better in this world than ice cream! It was so nice to be with Loren too, he needed a break.
We walked around Jordan's Point Park and I saw my first (of many to come I hear) wild bunny! It was so cute! I guess bunnies run wild around here, just like squirrels in Utah. Loren told me if I can catch one we can keep it. I'm keeping my eyes peeled.
Saturday was the 2nd annual Rockbridge County Pie Days Festival. Sounds exciting, huh? We thought so too so we drove on over to check it out and, hopefully, snag a piece of pie. Our excitement deflated considerably though as we saw just one booth selling a single slice of pie for $4. Hmm.. highway robbery?? I think so. It wasn't quite the "festival" atmosphere we had envisioned either so in honor of pie day, and to keep our spirits up, we made our own.

Yeah, its not quite blue ribbon material but it still tasted heavenly!
Thursday Loren and I drove to Augusta for my doctor's appointment. We had an ultrasound done and were informed that our baby is very small, looking to be around the 11th percentile. They say that even though I'm 37 weeks along, she's only 33 weeks or so big. After freaking out a bit, we've decided that it does no good to worry and we'll just have to wait and see what happens. They won't let me go over my due date so at least we know that she'll be here in less than 3 weeks. Ahh! Crunch time!
Loren gave a fantastic talk in Sacrament Meeting today. He has a natural gift for speaking and helping others to feel the spirit. I was very proud of him. I taught my primary class for the first time today and I wish I could say it was my first and last. Ok, just kidding, but I think this calling will stretch me to my limits. There's 7 children ages 4-5, and it was a complete rodeo! I'm grateful Loren was there with me today to try and maintain some order. Next week I'll be much better prepared and hopefully it will go better. We only grow when we're put out of our comfort zone right?
We are so grateful for all of you and your support and love. We feel your prayers and are so grateful to have the family and friends that we have. We hope you all have a fantastic week and we'll see you next time!
Hahaha, a rodeo! I know the exact feeling! We just got put with the 7-8 year olds, and it felt like a rodeo last week too. But, the second week is always better -- more time to prep and have tricks to pull out of your sleeve. That's crazy about the baby, but I agree, no use worrying about it. You guys look like you're having a great time, and surviving just fine! Way to go!
