Slides, Birthdays and a Campout

July has been glorious. So much fun and family time. The kids threw a birthday party for Fluffy one summer afternoon.

Loren and I completely died when we saw this reel. Loren wears these every night. We could not recover.

Library days are the best days.

Lydia went with the Young Women to the Brigham City Temple to do baptisms. They stopped at our local snow cone shop on the way home.

We took the kids to ride their ez rollers, scooters and roller blades at the church parking lot one Sunday afternoon. These are the times I want to remember.

My love.

We celebrated our sweet Allie's 9th birthday! She is a joy to have in our family. It's been the most wonderful 9 years. Here's to many more years making memories with you, baby girl.
She decided to change it up a bit this year so we went to the Aquatic Center with cousins. We had a blast.

We've so enjoyed our membership to The American West Heritage Center. Every time we've gone this summer there's hardly been anyone there. We ride the horses and train a few times in a row.

It's funny though, out of everything that's there I think the kids like the chickens the best. They could spend all day feeding them green weeds.

We made some super cute dolls out of strips of fabric and yarn. The kids have had a blast playing with them.

Happy 3rd birthday to Jace! Jace is so full of fun and energy. He adds so much to our family. We went to the splash pad and then had donuts at Macey's. Later that night Loren and I went to a Gentri concert in Logan. Mom Peck and Kristen bought us tickets for my birthday. It was so kind of them and we really enjoyed it. Lydia saved the day babysitting the kids. It's so weird we can leave the kids home alone now. I never thought we'd reach this milestone but here we are.

Sweet Ada was blessed by her dad. Maddy is the best mom!

I got some magnetic road toppers that go on top of the piccasotiles for Jace's birthday. All the kids LOVE them. Like hours every day are spent creating cities and driving their cars through them. I'm probably going to have to get some more but I don't even mind.

Love playing with our Lucy girl!

A couple of days before the 24th of July my mom called and asked if we wanted to rent an inflatable slide  for the day. The kids were all over that so we invited the fam and had ourselves a blast. We missed Nate, Kiana, Em and Tyson who weren't able to make it. Allie said her favorite part was when Todd threw her down the slide. It's sure nice to have a fun uncle who still wants to flip and dive with you down a water slide. We had a wonderful time together.

This slide was no joke. Mom broke her finger smashing into the end of it because she was going so fast.

Even dad tried it!

Allie is getting better at braiding.

One of our favorite spots to hang out is up the Stokes Nature trail.

The park in Hyrum has been a favorite this summer. We love the big hill, park with the zipline and splash pad.

Last Friday the girls went down to Salt Lake with my parents for the day to celebrate Greyson's birthday. They went to the Olympic Oval, a huge trampoline park and had dinner at Olive Garden.
While they were gone I took the boys to Coconut Cove. They loved climbing, sliding and exploring.

Last weekend we had our annual Swan Family Fun Days! This year included camping up Logan Canyon at the Spring Hollow Campground. Then the next day we moved our camp over to the Hyrum Dam Campground and spent the day after swimming and playing at the beach. Grandma Swan put so much time and effort into planning activities and food. We're so grateful to her for creating such a memorable trip for us and the kids!

Grandma Swan let us use her ten person tent. It fit us perfectly! We put the boys on an air mattress, I used Todd's cot and mattress and Loren and the girls used foam pads. It was quite the workout getting our camp all set up. Loren and I were pretty exhausted setting up and taking things down. The group site was great though, lots of tables and space to set up tents. The kids loved exploring and playing in the small stream nearby, climbing a dirt trail up the mountain, wading in the river and hiking up the crimson trail. I camped a lot growing up and am grateful my kids can have this type of experience too. Even though it was tons of work, I'm so glad we made it happen.

Front Row: Tessa, Brisbane, Gwen, Ephraim, Livy
Jace and Hudson were starving and wanted to eat over taking a picture.

The food was 10/10! We had sloppy joes for dinner the first night and a smorgasbord of pastries, yogurt, cereal, bagels and boiled eggs for breakfast.

Elizabeth and Allie

Loren was a pro by the time we had to set the tent up for the second time.

Chris thought Todd's cot was just right.

We couldn't keep the kids away from the beach for long. So we put on swimsuits and packed up to check out the little beach by our camp.

Jace, Jamie, Kai

Hudson, Tessa, Jace

We had an amazing dinner that night with rice, pork and macaroni salad.

These boys were the cutest with their cars. Ephraim, Weston and Jace

It's weird having Lydia be a part of the teenage group now.

I spy a beautiful lady! Mom made sure we had all the pads, sleeping bags and supplies we needed.

The next morning was COLD! The high temperature was only 79 which was the coldest all summer. It took a long time to warm up.

Even with the cold temps, when the girls had an opportunity to ride the jet skis they didn't think twice about hopping on with Dad and Chris. I happily sat that one out.

Thankfully it warmed up in the afternoon. We had so much fun on all the kayaks, inflatables, jet skis and playing with sand toys. It was a great day!

Jace LOVED the kayaks.

After a big fun filled weekend, Hudson passed out right on the table. We had dinner and family photos at the Hyrum Stake Center pavilion. Dinner was once again amazing. Ribs, potatoes and pie. YUM!

Grandma made us all fun shirts this year. Each family wore a different color.

We had an amazing time with our wonderful family! Such fun memories were made. Swan Family Fun days 2025 was a great success!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
