Hudson Turns Six and a Relaxing Spring Break

Spring has finally sprung! We're loving the beautiful weather and getting outside. The kids loved getting the chalk out for the first time this year.

Happy birthday to Grandpa Peck! Jace and I ran over to his office and got to see him on the big day. We sure love him.

Just two days later was Hudson's sixth birthday! He was so excited. He got some nano bugs, books and a Lego Star Wars spaceship. Hudson is very much into Legos and Star Wars right now. His birthday request was the Jump Zone so we invited our cousins and headed over in the morning. The kids had a blast jumping around with each other. Then afterwards we had our family over for pizza and cupcakes. It was a wonderful day with our boy. Hudson is so tenderhearted and often tells me I deserve a ten hour nap for working so hard. He says the funniest things. The other day at my parents, my mom, when referencing what the Savior did during his last week on earth, asked the kids what they would do if they only had one more week to live. Hudson said he'd sit on the couch and enjoy the peace and quiet. He cracks me up.

Fun present from Uncle Cam and Aunt Mary.

Lately we've been switching date nights with Chris and Kristen. We'll take their kids one night and then they'll do the same. It's worked out great and the kids love their cousin time.

I peeked in on a job my brother's company was working on the other day. It was cool to see how they inserted the foam. I'm so proud of Nate for how hard he's working right now. It's incredibly difficult running a business but he's doing an amazing job.

My parents gave us a membership to the American West Historical Farm for Christmas so we were excited to use it for Farm Animal days during spring break. Usually it's incredibly crowded so I was a little nervous but we ended up having the entire place to ourselves! It was a little rainy which was probably keeping the crowds away. We had an absolute blast! Grandma Rigby, Em, Tyson and Lucy came with us.

We rode the train like five times!

These were the cutest little turtles!

The rest of Spring Break was so relaxing and we enjoyed not having to be anywhere. Allie worked on her crafts and made the boys crowns.

We love our visits with Great Grandma Rigby!

We ended our break with Conference weekend. Saturday night our bishop asked if we wanted two tickets to the Sunday morning session. Lydia and I took the opportunity and drove down early Sunday. It was her first time at the Conference Center so we had fun walking around the grounds and looking at all the art inside. She did awesome during the session and said she loved being able to see behind the scenes of how Conference really is in person. I love spending time with my girl. She's growing up so fast.

We got home from conference and watched the last session in Avon with the family. We celebrated Dad and Hudson's birthdays. Hudson was a little sad but Dad was so good to help cheer him up.

When I heard that Lydia's class needed volunteers to chaperone their field trip to the Natural History Museum and the State Capital in Salt Lake, I immediately wanted to go but knew it would be difficult to find someone to watch Jace all day. When I told Loren, he took off the entire day to watch Jace so that I could go.  I was so grateful that he would do that for me and was excited to spend more time with Lydia.
The Natural History Museum had a lot of cool exhibits. We weren't able to stay too long but had fun while we were there. The next stop was the capital and it was probably my favorite. The building is beautiful and I really enjoyed touring all of it, especially the basement where they showed us how they recently updated the foundation to be earthquake proof. We learned a lot and had a great time. I loved that Lydia still wants to hang out with her mom during school events.

Last weekend my mom planned a special Easter program for the family. Everyone was able to be there with the exception of Cam and Mary's family. I'm so grateful for my mom in teaching my kids about Christ. She had them make their own "palm" leaves and we sang Easter songs and shared testimonies. It was a beautiful day and we all enjoyed being together. I haven't laughed that hard playing Masterpiece in a long time thanks to my brothers. Sure love our family.

The kids have been so excited for their school fundraiser, the Hawk Walk. They see how many laps they can run in 15 minutes for two days and then people can donate based on the total number of laps. For the first day Hudson ran 10 laps, Allie ran 17 and Lydia ran 20. The second day turned out snowy and cold so they'll finish up next week. I'm proud of my fast kids!

Lydia got the explore the Family History Center for Young Women's the other night.

We're so excited for Easter Weekend! So grateful for the Savior and his greater love for all of us.

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
