Here's some photos that Lydia has taken with her camera for the past few months.
The kids got this Tumble Touring set for Christmas and have loved it. It teaches how computers work through completing different puzzles. It's been a lot of fun.
We love Uncle Nate!
Lydia took this on Christmas morning.
Lydia built a lego Valentines Day box all by herself. It was amazing! Allie made a cute little purple love monster.
On Wednesday, January 29th at 7 am Lydia and I drove to the Cache Valley Hospital for a Tonsiladenoidectomy and turbinate reduction surgery. Lydia has had trouble breathing and has been chronically congested for a couple years now. Dr Blotter was confident that with this surgery she would see a significant difference. Along with Teddy Graham, we checked in bright and early and waited to be taken back to the operating room. She was nervous but mostly excited to be able to breathe better.
The surgery took about thirty minutes and was an hour before she was brought back. Dr Blotter said he reduced her turbinates down by 50 percent and took out her tonsils and adenoids. He was surprised at just how big her adenoids were. I've noticed now weeks later that her voice has changed slightly since getting them out. I noticed it with Allie too, it's fascinating. Took me a bit to get used to.
Recovery was a long two weeks but didn't seem quite as bad as Allie's. She didn't get any ear pain and could usually fall right back to sleep after I gave her meds at night. We were giving her pain meds every four hours so we were both sleep deprived. She didn't talk much at all the first week and a half then slowly started acting like herself again. Overall we're very grateful we did the surgery and are glad to have it done. Her sweet Young Women's group stuck hearts all over the door for her.
Jace almost always has to have his cars with him when he sleeps. A Cars book always helps too.
We haven't had a lot of snow this winter so the kids always took advantage of the random days we did get it. The girls had fun building a snowman with a neighbor friend.
Dad brought home a heart shaped pizza for Valentines Day and the kids loved it!
I took all the kids to the dentist. No cavities makes for a very happy mom!
We went sledding for the first time in forever and had a blast! My mom and Em's family came with us. We ended up running into Kristen and her kids too so it was a party! Jace loved going down the hill with Lucy and Dad the best.
Jace and I went grocery shopping at Walmart one morning. I turned my back for a second and when I came back found Jace chomping on an apple he had swiped from the stand. The cashier was not pleased.
Lydia has been growing and excelling so much lately. It's so much fun to be her mom! She loves painting and created this masterpiece the other day. She and Loren have been going to our neighbors for painting lessons every week. She's doing a great job. She also volunteered to accompany the young women on the piano while they sing Beautiful Savior in Sacrament meeting next week. Loren and I were a little skeptical that she could learn a challenging song in the time that she had but she proved us wrong. She practiced every day and now has it ready! I'm just so proud of her and love to see her develop her talents and creativity.
This past week has been quite a difficult one for me. I found out a good friend that was in my ward in Hyrum and went to school with me passed away. Trying to process the shock and sort through feelings and emotions has been really rough. Loren's been incredibly busy working on his second appeal of the year so we hardly saw him. I hosted Bunco on Thursday so I spent most the week deep cleaning my kitchen while also preparing for my Relief Society lesson. The night before BUNCO I found a leak under our kitchen sink. It had been leaking for so long that our flooring was starting to buckle. I was freaking out looking up how much it would cost to replace the floor.
The day of BUNCO three people dropped out so I was scrambling trying to find replacements. Luckily my mom and sister were able to make it and it turned out to be so much fun with them. My mom even won! I was so grateful for their support and it turned out to be a great night even though I was feeling emotionally exhausted. It was a fun distraction. The next day I bought a new faucet, which wasn't cheap, and thought about installing it myself but remembered what happened when I tried to fix the dishwasher and changed course. Loren was trying to get his appeal filed so I just decided to wait until after that was done. Later that evening we had a ward chili cook off. It was really fun, there were 26 different chili's there and we had fun sampling them. Loren made it to the last half hour after he filed the appeal. The next day, Saturday, Loren and I left Lydia for the first time with the kids while we went out to lunch. It was so nice to catch up from a crazy week and having Lydia old enough to take care of things at home was amazing.
Life can be hard sometimes. I'm grateful for sweet, kind kids and a supportive, hardworking husband. Also having the support of good parents and siblings has been something that has helped me through the week as well. I truly have so much to be grateful for.
