Swan Reunion 2024

My cousin, Angela put together a hiking club and we went and did Crimson Trail the other night. It was absolutely beautiful. This photo is vibing Lord of the Rings.

I forgot just how difficult the hike is. I was glad to have Liz to wheeze with.

Going down was pretty intense as it got dark and we were sliding down the mountain with just Liz's headlamp. We had a great time though and it was nice to get out in nature with these fun ladies.

Jace and I are finding our groove with just the two of us during the day. There's definitely hard times but I'm grateful I get to spend my days making memories with my squish.

We love Grandma Rigby.

Hudson is getting the hang of all day kindergarten. There were a few hard days with tears but overall he's doing better and even making some friends.

For Christmas Grandma Swan gave our family a trip to Bear Lake. Labor Day weekend finally came and we set off on our long awaited reunion. Mom Peck was in charge of all the food. I don't know how she managed everything, I'm sure she must have been exhausted afterwards. She and Dad packed up the sprinter van until it was bursting with food!

We stayed at an amazing rental. There were two big homes that slept 72 people. There was a sport/game room that had basketball court, pickleball and a climbing wall. There was also a pool and an exercise room the kids had a ball in.

Saturday was beach day! We had a couple wave runners we got to go out on. Loren and I took the girls and had a blast speeding and jumping over the waves in the water. Our girls are little daredevils! They always wanted to go faster. It was a really fun time and a highlight of the trip. The kids played for hours in the sand! I kept waiting for Jace or Hudson to have a meltdown but they just kept going. Kristen brought a couple barbie boats and they were the hit of the day. Best $2 ever spent!

I absolutely love this photo Kirsten took. Just precious! This was after Grandpa took the girls on the wave runner. They wanted to go with Grandpa because he's a crazy driver.

Later that evening we had a carnival to celebrate Aunt Shara's birthday. It was quite the production! There were all sorts of carnival games, prizes, face painting and cotton candy. Shara sure knows how to throw a party!

Lydia reading scriptures with Grandpa. The next day was Sunday so we went to church, relaxed and played games.

We were so happy that Rach, Jon, Lindsay and Reiden were able to be there!

Lydia and Allie talking with Uncle Rob.

We had a fireside that evening given by Uncle Darroll which was pretty entertaining.

It seems like the family grows more every year. A huge thank you to Grandma Swan for giving us the opportunity to make some wonderful memories. And we're so grateful for Mom for all the work she put into the food. It's a ton of work to put on something like this for so many people. We had a blast and are so grateful.

When we got home it was gravitrax for Jace and dad, of course.

We stopped by Hobby Lobby to get some fall decorations, much to Lydia's joy. We had fun decorating our house for fall.

I found this as I was looking through notebooks preparing for my Relief Society lesson. I love when I stumble upon these gems.

We went to the park with Kai and Maddy this morning. What cute cousins!

Fall is officially in the air!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
