A Getaway to Jackson Hole

We celebrated Brendan's 20th birthday with sparklers, pizza and frosty's. I loved gathering everyone together and watching the video Mom Peck made about him. It feels good to keep his memory alive and have a designated time to help our kids come to know him.

These cute kids are growing so fast. Allie (7, almost 8), Jace (almost 2), Lydia (10), Livy (6), Atticus (10), Tessa (3) and Hudson (5).

Behind the scenes.

Kristen put this cute collage together.

Lydia took this photo while we were in the canyon the other day.

We had such a fun Fourth of July! I was so excited that all my siblings were here. Holidays are always more fun with family! Cute cousins Hudson, Addy and Lucy.

Loren took the kids to the parade and lunch at Grandma Swan's. Grandpa Peck covered Hudson's ears and protected him from the squirt guns.

Grandma came over and gave each of her granddaughters some of her jewelry. It was so fun to hear the stories of different pieces and pick something that reminded us of her. Such a treasure.

I love this photo so much.

We had fun with the inflatables, snow cones and outdoor games. I love being able to catch up with my cousins and hang out with family.

Lindsay gave Lydia this Coast Guard shirt. She loves it.

Cam and Mary stayed up for the weekend after the Fourth so we had a party! The boys finally found time to play D&D. Loren said they didn't die so it sounded like a success.

Dad, Brayden, Cam, Greyson and Lydia went to a Real Salt Lake game. Lydia had so much fun and made some great memories.
We also went swimming at the Aquatic Center. It was so fun to hang out with family and is getting me excited for our trip to Island Park in a couple weeks!

A few weeks ago Loren told the girls that they could go on a trip with mom if they read through the Book of Mormon by the end of the year. My dad was kind enough to get us a hotel in Jackson Hole so my mom, the girls and I drove up to Jackson on Monday. After we arrived, we spent the afternoon on Snow King Mountain riding the gondola, cowboy coaster, alpine slide and playing mini golf. It was so fun! The girls were a little nervous at the top of the Alpine Slide and went reeeeally slow. It was pretty hilarious and I kept yelling at them to "go faster!"

The next morning we got up early and drove to Jenny Lake. We hopped on a boat and drove across the lake to the Hidden Falls trailhead. We hiked a couple miles up to a waterfall. It was beautiful and Lydia especially loved climbing on all the big rocks and picking wildflowers. I was glad we got there when we did because it got really busy as the day went on.

Grandma got us all cute hats!

Lydia took these pictures of our cute little friend we found.

After our hike we stopped at The Bird for lunch. It was really tasty!

After lunch we walked around downtown Jackson and took in all the fun shops.

We decided to check out Astoria Hot Springs which was about 20 minutes out of Jackson. There were six different pools at different temperatures. It was so relaxing and rejuvenating.

The girls spent a lot of time in the pool at the hotel too.

We loved sharing these experiences with Grandma. The girls are so lucky to have her in their life. She picks up what I don't have the energy to do for the kids. We made some wonderful memories together and I'm so grateful for her love and all that she is.

We had such a fun trip but I was definitely ready to see my boys after three days. Im so grateful for Loren in letting me have a break and relax. I love him so much and the family we have together.

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
