Allie's Adenoidectomy/Tonsillectomy

April and May have been super busy but lots of fun. The kids have had a lot of growing experiences and we've loved spending time together as a family.

My parents got a new sectional that's super nice. The kids love it!

Squish loves his Allie

It was too cold for bare feet but he still wanted to play outside.

I love spending time with my brothers. Nate is starting a new business and Brayden moved and has a new job in Salt Lake so I love when they can make it up.

Soccer was a whirlwind like always! I wasn't going to coach this year since Jace is a lot of work but they were desperate so I coached Lydia's team. It turned out to be a lot of fun and I loved spending that time with Lydia. Allie had a great season too. I love that they have as much fun as I did when I was their age.
Rhett, Luke, Tate, Zach, Lydia

These were all my rotations for each game. I came up with a new system this year that worked really well.

Lydia has loved being in SEM this year. She researched two topics and then did a presentation. The first project was about geodes and the last one was about Florence Nightingale. Mom Peck saved the day with her cute outfit which fit perfectly. All the kids dressed up as their person they researched and performed a bio riddle they wrote themselves. Then they stood by their research and answered any questions from people passing by. It was such a fun night and I was so proud of our girl.

Brayden graduated from USU! I was so happy to be able to be there. He's worked so hard and I've been so impressed with his work ethic and dedication. It was such a fun day celebrating his accomplishments.

I love how much my Grandma loves Jace. They have the sweetest bond.

The kids were THRILLED with all the legos Grandma and Grandpa Peck gave them. It was better than Christmas morning as they looked though all the pieces from Loren's childhood. They've played with them every day since they got them two months ago.

"Hey mom, this is what Hulk's face looks like."

Loren is so sweet and actually lets Jace help cook. He LOVES it.

Jace's favorite day of the week is garbage day. He screams and catapults himself to the window when the truck comes by. One day the truck driver hopped out after he dumped the can and gave the kids goodie bags! They got little garbage trucks, cans, coloring books and crayons. So fun!

I love making rainbow rice! This batch turned out amazing and the kids love playing with it.

The girls loved participating in their school fundraiser the Hawk Walk. They tried to run as many laps as possible in 15 minutes. Allie ran 48 and Lydia ran 51. I was so proud!

Lydia had her end of year voice recital. She did so beautifully and we were all so proud. She's excited to start learning piano now over the summer.

Allie's last day of school was May 21st this year because we scheduled her tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy for the 22nd. The day before the surgery we went to the store and bought pudding, jello, yogurt, applesauce, ramen noodles, juice, creamies, and popsicles. The next morning bright and early Allie and I went to Cache Valley Hospital for the surgery. She brought her bear Fluffy and the nurses were so cute and gave him a bandaid too. The surgery went well but she was in a lot a pain coming out of anesthesia. They monitored her there for an hour then sent us home.
The past nine days have been a long, rough recovery. I felt like I had a newborn again with timers set for every three hours for pain meds. Sometimes the meds would help and other times it didn't seem like they touched her throat and ear pain. One day when the pain seemed like too much, Allie asked if we could pray. After the prayer, she looked at me and said she felt like ice would help. I ran downstairs, grabbed three ice packs and put them on her ears and throat. She started to calm down and eventually stilled as the ice numbed the pain. Allie and I learned a valuable lesson that day. Heavenly Father wants to help us but we have to humble ourselves enough to ask. He won't always take away our pain but he will definitely be there to comfort and strengthen us. I'm proud of my girl for having such great faith.

The day after Allie's surgery Hudson had his preschool graduation. He did such a great job! I can't believe he's on his way to kindergarten. He loved his time with Ms Liz and Max, what fun memories.

These two have been playing together since they were babies. To me they'll always be two rambunctious toddlers playing with cars and "saving the day" in their superhero capes.

Memorial Day came and Allie was still hurting. Loren took the other kids to the Swan breakfast while my parents took Allie and I to Bear Lake for a shake. My parents helped Allie so much by bringing her food, taking the boys so I could focus on her and just randomly stopping by with ice cream. She is the absolute luckiest to have them as her grandparents.

And somehow, the last day of school came. Lydia is now an official fifth grader. I'm so proud of the kind, helpful, patient and empathetic girl she has grown to be.

Bring on summer fun!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
