Putting Christ in Christmas

I finally tracked down the sibling photo from Thanksgiving. Love these people so much.

I really look forward to bunco nights with these ladies. I've become close with all of them these past two years. Such a fun group!

Hudson had so much fun at his preschool Christmas party. It was so hard to wait but the day finally came!

I got some curl bands for the girls and I and it's been so fun to see the cute curls that come from it.

Allie loves her stuffies.

Nate made this crazy pic of Jace with AI. I may have a had a mild heart attack.

Lydia made this amazing gingerbread house at activity days. Her room smelled like sugar for days.

Lydia and I went with my parents to the Gentry Christmas concert. It was such a beautiful way to start the Christmas season. I love this tradition and it was so fun to have my girl with me. Loren took Lydia to Mat and Savannah Shaw the following week. She loved both concerts.

The girl's school Christmas sing a long was so cute. Each grade sang a song and then Lydia sang a few with the choir. This was Allie's grade and she's the top left.

Lydia is right in the middle. Her favorite song was Ugly Sweater and she was thrilled to wear one of Kristen's for the event.

We had a fun Christmas party with Chris and Kristen's family. The kids made a cute nativity!

Christmas Eve finally came! I wasn't going to do jammies this year but I caved and ended up doing it anyway. I didn't even get a picture of all of them but they sure looked cute.

We had dinner and watched The Muppet Christmas Carol with my parents and Em and Tyson's family. Everyone was so excited!

One of my favorite traditions is when Lydia sets out cookies, or this year brownies, and egg nog for Santa. She and Allie wrote the sweetest notes. Lydia even left a flash light for him.

Christmas morning! I was terrible at getting pictures, I guess we were just having too much fun. Lydia got a spirograph, a gravitrax marble run, a lego flower arrangement and some books. Allie got a spin art wheel, magic trick box, beads for bracelets, lots of markers and books. Hudson got a bunch of PicassoTiles, a car track, construction dress ups and books. Jace got some magnetic cars, barn animal toys and books. It was a perfect day as we played and enjoyed our time together. I love this family of mine.

We all got to talk to Todd later that evening. It was so good to see him!

The day after Christmas we exchanged gifts with the Peck siblings. Loren and Chris made this chess set for Rachel and Jon. It turned out AMAZING. Seriously so beautiful. Sarah got me a Stanley with the kids' names engraved on it. I can be an official Utah mom now!

Loren wanted to have a recital for our family on his birthday. It turned out beautifully! Loren wanted a chance to perform some organ songs and for family to have a chance perform something they've been working on. Rachel, Lindsay and I sang Love is Christmas by Sarah Barielles. It was so fun to sing with them!

Chris read a poem.

Landon played the piano.

Lydia sang Sing Me the Stars.

Mom Peck read a poem, Em played the piano and my mom played her flute. I hope we do it again next year because I loved the chance to hear from everyone. It was a great night.

The next day was my family's Christmas party. We started with the nativity.

Addy was baby Jesus, it was hilarious.

My Aunt Laura made this meerkat for Allie. She spent so many hours working on it, it's the cutest thing. What a treasure!

We had a great time together over the next few days.

We celebrated my mom's birthday with a girls lunch at Olive Garden. It was so good and even better to catch up with these ladies.

Happy birthday, Mom! You're the most perfect mom and Grandma for our family. Can't imagine life without her.

Although it was such a fun break, we're ready to get back to a schedule and move on with the new year. This past year had its challenges and hard times. I'm grateful for a loving Father in Heaven who knows what we need and how to comfort us. Here's to 2024!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
