Celebrating Spring

On a particularly hard day Lydia gave me this note. It's hard to stay down with such sweet and sensitive kids.

Because Loren was really busy with work we decided to do fun things around home for Spring Break. One day we took the kids to the Jump Zone. They had a blast!

Hudson winding up before his sprint up to the top.

It was a little chilly but Easter came all the same. The kids got new kites, gel pens, squirty bottles and eggs in their baskets this year.

Hudson also got some planes and he was thrilled.
We went to Nibley City's Hopsticle course runs that morning. Here's Hudson all happy before his race. Once the gun went off to start he was bawling the whole time. "We're having fun!" I kept telling him but he wasn't having it. The two eggs he got at the end seemed to make it all better.

Lydia's race

                                                                Allie did so good!

At the last minute Lydia decided to run the mile race too. She got around 9 minutes, not bad for no training!

After the races we headed up to Old Main Hill for the annual Swan Easter Egg roll. Grandma Peck boiled a whole bunch of eggs for the kids to decorate.

Instead of the usual KFC lunch, Lindsay decided to MAKE everything this year. She made mashed potatoes, gravy, cornbread, biscuits and fried chicken. It was absolutely HEAVENLY.

After the kids had thrown all their eggs, we took our new kites and tried them out. They worked really well! It was a really fun, windy day.

We've been in the thick of soccer season! Kristen and I have been coaching Atticus and Lydia's team this year. It's been fun to be the assistant instead of head coach this time, Kristen has done a great job and the kids have had a lot of fun.

Allie has enjoyed her team too. We have games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. This is the last week of games and I think we're ready for a breather.

Preschool fun!

Allie's had a few big days! She lost her first tooth and her second one a couple days later. The same day she learned to ride her bike without training wheels!

Lydia has been really helpful lately. She'll make breakfast for the kids and help them with whatever they need. We took her to Coldstone to celebrate all the good she's been doing.

Grandma Rigby got a super fun new toy. The girls call it the Totter of Terror.

Allie loves her new Melodica. She'll practice for hours along with Bluey songs.

Lydia read over her reading goal by two hundred points! She'll get to go to a special pizza party. Proud of this girl!

For Mothers Day this year Kristen took a photo of the kids to give to Mom Peck. They look so grown up. Livy (4), Atticus (7), Tessa (1), Lydia (8), Allie (5), and Hudson (3).

I was spoiled with breakfast in bed and sleeping in until 8:30! The only thing I want to eat these days is Raisin Bran. The girls made me the sweetest cards. It was a wonderful day and I was reminded of how blessed I am to be a mother to my sweet kids. The sacrifice's made for them and because of them are completely worth it. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing my kids playing together, doing something hard, or making memories together. We're getting excited to be adding another little boy in a couple months. I'm grateful for the things I learn during the hard days as well as the good.

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
