Surviving Covid (We think)

It's been a quiet January and February for the most part. Loren spent the first part of January buried in depositions. Work is staying busy for him which is a good thing. Grandma Peck gave Hudson a handsome haircut! She seriously is the best for keeping a two year old still and making him look so handsome.

Hudson and Max have started playing a lot better together lately. I think Hudson has made big developmental leaps and finds it fun to play with Max now. He'll even share his prized Cars! I never thought it would happen but miracles still abound. One of their favorite things to play with is Allie's mermaid castle. But not with the mermaids, just cars.

I've enjoyed having my Allie home with me in the afternoons. Most often we'll take a nap together on the couch and snuggle together. She's such a sweetheart. I started the Kindergarten registration process and feel a pit in my stomach every time I think about her going. I wish I could bottle up these moments and keep them forever.

Allie's very creative. She's playing 'bus stop' with her animals.

Lydia is a vivacious reader! She plows through chapter book after chapter book. Her teacher has helped instill a love of reading even more. She's doing really well in school and seems to be content and happy with our new situation. I'm really proud of her for all she's been through and accomplished.

Grandpa Peck got three new motorcycles and Hudson was thrilled to take a ride with him. Between his work, family and stake president duties I'm so glad he still finds time to do things he enjoys. I honestly don't know how he does it all. He's amazing.

I went in to my first doctor's appointment and since I went at 14 weeks we were able to see a lot more on the ultrasound than the usual first visit. We even could make out the gender. We're having another boy! We're really excited for all the kids but especially Hudson to have a brother. Everything looks good so far, we'll go in for the big 20 week ultrasound in a couple weeks so I'll be able to breathe easier after that.

Work is still going slowly but surely on the chair.

Allie's had a blast at preschool. Liz has been such a great teacher. It's been weird to think I won't be sending any kids to her next year.

Hudson still love his pillow. And fingers. We bought some nasty tasting nail polish to try to deter him from sucking but it hasn't seemed to faze him.

It was 35 degrees the other day so we took advantage and walked to the park. It's great we have so many fun parks within walking distance.

Loren has come up with a genius way to get the kids to clean up happily. Every Saturday he comes up with a new story. This time it was about a dragon and his treasure. When the kids cleaned up a certain room by the time limit, they could find treasure that Loren hid in various parts of the house. The more gems they collected the more prizes they could chose. It's worked amazingly well and I've been so impressed with Loren's creativity.

For Activity Days Lydia's group 'heart attacked' the bishop's door. He sent me this picture of what Lydia wrote on one of the hearts. Pretty cute.

For Valentines Day we went to the Beehive Grill on Friday night and then Sabores on Saturday. My mom watched the kids Friday and then Lindsay offered to take them Saturday. How blessed are we! Lindsay was the sweetest and made homemade Mac and cheese and played with the kids. They loved it and so did we.

The first week of February Allie fevered on Thursday night and then Hudson fevered Friday night until Sunday. He didn't sleep at all those two nights so we moved his bed into our room so at least we could lay in our beds and be awake. Poor guy was really miserable. On Sunday Loren and I fevered and had the worst body aches I've ever had. It started with a headache then worked its way down my body. I couldn't get off the couch for days. Loren was struggling but thankfully he could function enough to take care of the kids. Sleeping was really hard as we were both really congested. My appetite disappeared and the combination of not sleeping or eating did a number on me. We assumed we had Covid though we didn't get tested, mostly because I didn't want to get in the car to go do it. We had some really hard days but felt so blessed to have my parents close. They brought dinner all week and called to make sure we were ok. We're so grateful for their help and I feel so blessed to have Loren who did everything possible to make sure I was taking care of myself. I can say I never want to experience those two and half weeks again.

Lydia really stepped up while we were sick. She helped her siblings, brought me heating pads and gave me back rubs. She wrote this card for me on a particularly hard day. I'm blessed to have the most wonderful kids.

Lydia is really enjoying Activity Days. There's 17 girls in her group!

The girls had fun with their Kiwi boxes on Sunday. Allie made cute puppets Lydia made boats with little motors.

It was fun to watch them go in the tub!

Sunday's have been challenging lately. We go right at Hudson's nap time so it makes for a long, grumpy day for him. I was happy to see he got at least a 20 minute nap last week passed out on the floor. My primary class is challenging to say the least. I have at least 5 kids out of 14 that are extremely energetic. I usually come home mentally and physically exhausted. I'm hoping I can figure out a better way to reach some of them. It's hard when you only have 20 minutes a week with them but hopefully something will click.

We are getting so ready for spring!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
