We started out the new year with a trip to the Jump Zone with Chris and Kristen's family. We also ran into Loren's uncle and aunt who have a couple kids. Everyone had a blast jumping and swinging around.
Colby, Atticus, Aaron, Troy and Lydia aka "the big kids"
Lydia's present to Allie for Christmas this year was so sweet. She made this card and then wrote every word to a bunch of Christmas songs and put them in a book. This might have been my favorite part of Christmas.
Loren's making me a rocking chair! I am SO very excited for this. His dad made one for Christmas and it's absolutely stunning. We're so grateful for his help in making this family heirloom. Loren goes out to Avon every Wednesday and Saturday to work on it. It's his first big wood working project so I'm excited to see this finished product! The wood I chose is called _____ Aspen.
Loren has been wanting and saving up for a new keyboard for a long time. He finally found one on KSL for a really good deal so he drove all the way to Vineyard to get it. He's really happy with it and the kids love playing on it too.
Allie's KiwiCo box was a bug theme this month. How cute are those bug wings and antenna??
Lydia made a marble run with hers. She was thrilled to find out it goes by itself!
Another day working on the rocking chair.
Chris is making one too so it's fun for Loren to get to be with his dad and brother.
This is Hudson. Middle fingers in his mouth and always holding his pillow. The finger up his nose is hit and miss.
Preschool pics
These will form the back of the chair.
Max and Hudson are cute little buddies... most the time.
We were thrilled to be going to Saint George with Pecks for the Martin Luther King holiday weekend. It was so nice to have something fun in January to look forward to. We packed up the car with all our stuff including bikes and the Weehoo bike trailer and started the five hour journey on Thursday. The kids did better than I thought they'd do on the way down, though Hudson let us know around the four hour mark that he was not enjoying the ride as much anymore.
We finally made it to the Condo in Santa Clara at 7pm. It was so beautiful! There were five bedrooms with a spacious kitchen and family room. The small patio had a hot tub, outdoor seating and a table plus a grill. You could also climb up the stairs to a small deck on the roof which had chairs and a fireplace. Our bedroom had a bunk bed with a pull out trundle which was perfect for all of us.
The next day we went to a super fun children's museum. We were so surprised with how big it was and the quality of the activities. Everyone had so much fun! Even Hudson who was cranky from not sleeping the best.
This Touchan Amphitheater room was awesome. You could control the lights and background for the stage as well as the music.
This airport room was so cute! You could take your suitcase off the plane, roll it through security and scan your ticket to exit. Good stuff for kids to learn.
"Look mom, no hands!"
We had all the kids in the car and were about to leave when we spotted this carousel. So we unloaded all the kids and went over to check it out. It was a quality ride for the price! The kids loved it!
We ate soooo good. Everyone took a turn cooking breakfast, lunch or dinner. We had biscuits and gravy, hamburgers and hotdogs, spaghetti and meatballs, breakfast casserole, ham and cheese sliders, Thai curry soup, chicken Alfredo pizza, chicken and veggie kabobs and more. YUM.
Our condo was right next to the pool. Even though it was only 60 degrees, there was no stopping the kids from trying it out. Unfortunately only the hot tub was heated and the other pools weren't. They were freezing! But Aaron, Lydia and Atticus still had a great time jumping from the freezing pools back into the hot tub.
Lydia trying to go down the slide without water.
Random guy who we eventually drove out, but I wanted to show where our condo was.
Daniel and Maddy thought it was a good time to relax and read.
Lydia and Aaron having fun in the sand at Sand Hallow Park.
Hudson was being particularly grumpy so Loren and I loaded him up in the Weehoo and we took him on a bike ride. There were so many bike trails all around us and I found myself wishing Cache Valley could be the same. We rode for a good six miles though the beautiful red rocks and stunning landscapes of Santa Clara. It was so good for my soul and felt so good to be on my bike again.
Right after Loren put the bikes away he tripped and fell on his wrist. For a minute we thought he may have broken it. It's sure nice to have a physical therapist in the family as Rach looked it over and ruled out a break. It was pretty swollen for that day but the day after was feeling better. We're grateful that this was the only casualty on our trip.
The next day we spent some time in Snow Canyon. What a beautiful, stunning place. There's so many hiking and biking trails and I wish we could have explored more. Some of us took the kids to the sand dunes while others rode bikes on a trail nearby. Here's Linds on the bike ride.
When the bikers returned, the kids were ready to leave. Loren suggested Linds, Rach, Mom and I ride the bikes back to the condo since we were only four miles away. We couldn't pass up the chance so away we went! It was really fun and we coasted most the way since it was downhill.
We made it!
After we put the kids to bed Loren and I ran over to Em and Tyson's for a bit. It was SO good to see them again and I about died when I saw the baby's room. Can you even handle the cuteness?? It's so surreal to think that sweet little girl will be here any time now. I can't wait!
The next day we went to Thunder Junction Park. This park is huge and has a lot of unique things for the kids. Hudson loved the dinosaurs.
We tired them out pretty good!
We spent the rest of our time jeeping, playing in the pool, hot tubbing at night, playing games and crafting. The girls were able to go to DI and we all found some great clothes. I had some wonderful conversations and we were able to make precious and priceless memories with our family. These are the times I always want to remember and I hope my kids remember. It's not always easy to travel with kids, in fact, it's sometimes plain exhausting. But we do it for them and for us. The time we spend with family strengthens us and I'm so grateful for this beautiful one that I'm apart of. We're also so grateful for Dad and Mom Peck who sacrificed and spent so much time planning and making it perfect. We couldn't have asked for better parents and are so grateful for the opportunities they give us to make these memories.
Lydia brought home her Acadience Reading scores. I think she's doing well, haha. So proud of my girl!!
Cue the tears.
Is it bad I'm already counting down until Spring? It was pretty hard to go from sunny Saint George to winter in Cache Valley. At least January is almost behind us! And what wonderful memories we made too.
