I just received some professionally done photos of Lydia during the play and had to share them.
Our Allie is three! What a sweetie she is. She loves horses, princesses, pink, strawberries and blueberries. She is such a good big sister to Hudson, always trying to make him happy and laugh. She wants to be just like her big sister and follows her around all day. We couldn't imagine life without her.
On her birthday she wanted to go to the beach so we went to Hyrum Dam with the Rigby's and Pecks. We had fun playing in the water and eating pizza and Popsicles.
We made a quick trip up the canyon with my mom and Brayden one afternoon. It was so nice! The girls had a blast playing in the water and it was nice to soak up all the goodness nature brings.
We've enjoyed going to Nibley Elementary for free lunch a couple times this summer. It's nice not to have to worry about making something and the girls love it.
Hudson loved his first time on the tramp! His little legs were going a mile a minute and he was laughing and giggling like crazy. He doesn't want to be left behind his sisters.
Happy birthday to me! Loren let me choose my birthday gift and I decided on a subscription to Sexy Modest My Favorite Things box. It did not disappoint! It's so fun to have something to look forward to every month that you wouldn't get yourself.
Happy four month's to Hudson! He loves this little walker and is getting pretty good at sitting up. We love our drooly boy.
I ran across this the other night and started crying I was laughing so hard. How true it is!
The Peck family trip was at a cabin in Crouch, Idaho this year. We started our five hour drive on Wednesday, July 24th and got there in the evening. It was such a cute cabin! There were three levels: a loft, main floor and basement. This was the main floor looking down from the loft.
It had a nice deck and patio area that was nearly always shaded.
This was one side of the loft.
Cute boys!
There were games galore! Foosball, darts, ping pong, board games, puzzles, books and more.
I had such a great birthday! I had to take a picture of this yummy sandwich Mom made for my birthday lunch. It was so nice!
Then we decided to head to the beach!
The kids loved chasing the minnows.
Sarah and Landon were the only brave ones to jump off the rope swing.
Such a pretty place!
Hudson got the hang of splashing after a bit. Then he was content to stick his feet in the sand.
After we were swum out, we went back to the cabin and had an amazing barbecue. Dad grilled some filet meg-non that was to die for. Then we had smores and decided to save the angel food cake for the next night because we were stuffed. I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing and fun birthday!
Not sure if Sarah got much of a nap.
I had to get a picture of Allie's magnificent hair when she woke up.
Lydia is getting pretty good at taking pictures now. She took the next two ones of Allie.
Lydia loved her ladybug face paint done by Sarah and Kristen.
We played some crazy fun games of Werewolf!
Oh the spit-up never ends.
On Saturday we drove a couple miles up the road and hiked up a mountain. Hudson made it about 1/4 a mile before he decided he hated his Moby Wrap and hiking. So Loren and I turned around and went home leaving the girls with everyone else. Apparently Sarah carried Allie pretty much all the way. They're lucky to have such awesome aunts and uncles! Sometimes it's hard to go on vacation with a baby. But we had to keep reminding ourselves that it's just a phase of life and it will be over sooner than we think.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was going on a Jeep ride with Dad, Loren and Lydia. We drove about thirty minutes up a windy, dirt road to the top of a mountain. Right on top of the mountain was a tiny town called Placerville. It was like nothing I had ever seen in real life before, I felt like I'd been transported into a movie. By every little house was an outhouse- there was no indoor plumbing! There was one house that looked like the owner had just pulled together a bunch of random slabs of wood and duct taped it together. Totally crazy. I really wanted to have a conversation with one of the townspeople and ask them what their motivation was for living there. When winter comes they'll be stuck up there. It was so crazy to see.
We got out and walked around their cemetery for a bit. It was amazing, there were headstones everywhere, most very overgrown with plants and weeds. Most all the headstones were very old though there were a few that were recent and stuck out like a sore thumb.
It was fun to read about a local legend.
The four pines talked about on the plaque.
How'd you like to be buried in a garden box?
It was truly one of the most fascinating places I've ever been. We had a pretty wild, bouncy ride back and Lydia was giggling and laughing the whole time. She sure loves Grandpa's Jeep and had a blast.
The last night we were there, Loren and I woke at 1 AM to the sound of Lydia throwing up. We turned on the light and discovered she had thrown up all over herself, the white sheets, pillows and comforter. So we got her up, showered her off, and tried to find cleaning supplies to clean the bedding and floor but they were all locked up. So we settled for disinfectant wipes and placed garbage bags on the mattress in case it happened again. We thought about just leaving right then but Mom talked us into staying until it was light, which was a good idea. Right after Lydia threw up, Jon did. Then Rachel was up and in the bathroom. None of us got any sleep after that. Every time Lydia moved I jumped up with the bowl. I really didn't want to ruin their mattress. It was a really miserable night. In the morning we started packing up to go home. All the sudden Allie threw up. Then Loren felt really sick. I was throwing stuff into suitcases trying so hard to get everything in the car so we could get out of there. Then Chris, Dad, Sarah and Kristen felt sick. We said a family prayer before we left and Mom snapped a quick picture. Don't let those smiles fool you, everyone was miserable! You can see the bowls Rach and I were holding.
I can't ever remember a more miserable car ride in my life. The girls were both holding bowls in case of disaster. I drove since I was feeling better than Loren. A few hours in, Loren started fevering. He was pretty much delirious and freezing and couldn't even sit up. Then, on cue, Hudson started screaming. There was literally nothing Loren could do as he was hunched over in agony. I felt extremely nauseous so I prayed to please just let us get home and then I can be sick. Pretty sure I was going 90 the whole way. After driving a little over four hours, I couldn't do it anymore. I pulled off in Snowville and parked at a gas station. We called Mom and Dad to see if someone could drive for us but they were thirty minutes behind us. Loren had taken four ibuprofen and finally felt like he could sit up. So I switched him spots and he managed to get us home. We were so grateful to have made it! Mom was an angel and stopped by to unload our car and get the girls situated. As miserable as it was, it sure makes for a good story and we can all laugh about it now. We're so grateful for Mom and Dad and all they did to help us make some wonderful memories. Can't wait for next year!
