Wow. How do I sum up the past two months? It's been such a whirlwind. At the beginning of March, when I was 36 weeks pregnant, I started having terribly painful contractions. This happened for a couple days and when I got only three hours of sleep one night, I finally gave in and told Loren we needed to go to the hospital. I was pretty sure I wasn't in labor but I wanted to double check because I knew if it wasn't that, then something was very wrong.
We checked ourselves into the hospital and waited for testing. They told me I wasn't in labor and after an ultrasound discovered that I had a kidney infection. They gave me an antibiotic via an IV and prescribed me amoxicilin to take for a week. So after six hours in the hospital, we left feeling grateful we hadn't delivered a baby yet since we were both really sick. I had a terrible cough, congestion and a sore throat while Loren had a sinus infection. I'm grateful for the Spirit, I know it guided me to go to the hospital.
Just three days after taking my antibiotic, I started having bad diarrhea and stomach pain. This went on for six days before I told my doctor about it. He ordered more testing and found out I now had C. Diff which is a bacterial infection. I most likely got it from the hospital or antibiotic I was taking. So I was then perscribed Vancomycin which is an extremely powerful drug. Also, it's an extremely expensive drug and being very pregnant, I totally broke down when the pharmacist told me the price. I closed my eyes, swiped my card and bawled the whole way home. Thank goodness for Loren and making me take a nap as soon as I got home. Everything seems a little brighter when you get sleep.
A few days after I started the Vanco, I got a yeast infection. Loren had to drive to Walmart at 9:30 at night to get me some medicine. After I was on the medicine for three days, I finally slept through the night for the first time in weeks. It had been a looooooong month and I was determined that I would never be pregnant again. Mom Peck had taken the girls out to Avon to play one Saturday and as Loren and I were driving out to get them, our transmission went out in the Tahoe. It wouldn't go faster than 20 miles per hour. This was a pretty low point for me. I wondered how many more hits we could take before breaking. Add to that, the stress of our basement constantly flooding.
Even though I felt like the world was caving in, I couldn't help but also feel much gratitude for the blessings that we received through that time. My Mom and Mom Peck were angels. They came and cleaned my house, more than once from top to bottom. They took the girls for days and brought in meals and snacks. I never felt like I was alone and through my most difficult moments felt peace because of their constant support and prayers. We also felt great support from other family and friends. You truly are rich when you have such family and friends that we have. I'll never be able to repay them for the kindness and support they gave to us through that time.
Another huge blessing was my parents selling us their Trail Blazer. We now have enough seats for everyone and I feel much safer driving around with them. Also, Dad Peck is helping us fix the basement. I know the Lord is aware of our needs and blesses us when we remember and have faith in Him.
For FHE one Monday we went swimming at Great Grandma Peck's pool. The Davidson's were there too and Allie had a blast swimming with Elizabeth.
One of the many days the girls spent at Grandma's. What a fun puppet show!
Loren and I came down from taking a nap one day to find this. Lydia had completed 18 puzzles, two of which were 100 pieces all during quiet time. She said she wanted to do more but there wasn't enough room on the table. She sure loves her puzzles!
A couple days before I was to be induced, I went to my cousin's baby shower. After she had opened all her gifts, I was completely shocked when my cousin, Jenni and and Aunt Karla brought out more gifts for me! They had planned a surprise shower for me and I defiantly could not have been more surprised. It was so thoughtful and I'm so grateful to my cousins and aunts for thinking of me. Now we're all set for our little guy's arrival!
This card was so cute!
On Friday, March 22nd Loren and I headed into the hospital at 7 am. It was a dark and rainy morning. We checked in, I was started on Pitocin and we started the waiting game. Dr Horsley had been called in for an emergency surgery so we had to wait until after noon before I had my water broken. After that, things progressed fairly quickly. I asked for an epidural and after he inserted it, realized I was still feeling pain on one side. We decided to wait a little longer but he told me if I didn't feel relief soon, he'd have to re-insert the tube. The epidural is probably the worst part of labor for me so I was really praying it would start working. About forty-five minutes later I started to feel it kicking in. Yay!
At 3:22 pm Hudson Sean Peck was born! I was shaking so bad and couldn't figure out why I was bawling. Maybe just relief after everything I had been through the past month, my baby was finally here safe and sound. He was absolutely perfect weighing 7 lbs 10 ozs and 21 inches long.
Proud daddy!
I loved when the girls came to visit! They were so excited and loved him to pieces. They're already the best big sisters.
Time to go home!
Grandma and Grandpa Peck stopped by later that night to see Hudson.
Grandma and Grandpa Rigby meeting Hudson. Grandpa says he has Grandma's chin!
Lydia's first game of Cataan. Apparently she did pretty good!
On Saturday Chris and Kristen invited us to go on a walk with them. It was so nice to be out and even better to catch up with them. We love Spring!

The nurse wanted to take a photo of us literally one minute after he was born. Very flattering photo of me but there's sure some cute boys!

Hudson is super lucky to have such a fun uncle as Aaron. A week after he was born I was getting pretty stir crazy so we made a trip out to Avon. It was so nice to be there and Hudson received a lot of love!

Life with three kids has been an adjustment but I'm trying to slowly get life back under control. I feel so grateful for such amazing family who's made this transition as smooth as possible. I love them so much and also love my family of five!
