Lydia has been asking and asking to have a sleepover at Grandma Rigby's for a long time now. Grandma was so great at finally making it happen. They did puzzles, colored, read stories and more! Lydia had the best time and the moment she got home asked when she could do it again.
The girls and I have really enjoyed going to the Stokes Nature Center story times. Last week we went on a seed scavenger hunt and the week before learned about berries. It's so rejuvenating to be in the mountains and have some fun in nature.
Silly girls. Allie can almost always be found carrying four or five horses wherever she goes.
The Stokes Nature Center play area is always a hit.
A couple Saturday's ago I was dying to go up the canyon and see the leaves. I hadn't been to Tony Grove in years so I thought it'd be a fun family outing. We didn't end up leaving until nap time so everyone was tired and cranky on the drive up. I was second guessing the trip, but luckily as soon as we got there, everyone cheered up and had a lot of fun. It was so gorgeous. Being out in nature just soothes my soul and I hope it does the same for my girls. We went on a mile hike around the lake and the girls had a blast climbing on every rock and exploring.
The Mountain Crest Homecoming Parade was a blast, as always. The girls got eight pounds of candy each, plus cheese sticks, otter pops, shirts and more. I'd say it rivals the Fourth of July parade! It was fun to see Brayden with the swimmers and Todd with the football team. Aaron also walked with a Boy Scout troop. Such a fun night!
I got these cool socks as well! She really does look like me in the morning...
Last weekend was so fun! My sister-in-law, Mary and her son Greyson were able to come up and spend a couple days with us. Saturday morning was the Nibley City Scarecrow run. I was disappointed that I couldn't run this year because I always love trying to win the stroller prize. I was elated when Brayden offered to run with Allie. He did so well and ended up winning the stroller prize! I told him when he has kids, I'll give him whatever was in the prize basket. He's seriously so fast and ran it better than I could have. Thanks again, Brayd!
They started off the morning with the kids' runs. Lydia, Allie and Greyson just barely made it in time to run the 100 meter dash. They did great!
Todd and Brayden didn't have school last Friday and Nate was over as well, so we decided to make it a party and go up to Tony Grove again. After lunch, we made the trek.
The trees were even more vibrant this time around.
Mary showing Todd how to cast.
It was absolutely breathtaking.
These kids were troopers and finished the hike without having major meltdowns.
Saturday Mary, Kiana and I went to the Cache Valley Parade of Homes. I've always wanted to go and was thrilled that Mary and Kiana wanted to go too. A huge thank-you to my mom who watched the kids all day. As you can see, they had a blast!
I don't know why I didn't take many pictures of the Parade of Homes, but I did get a couple. It was so fun to be with my sister-in-laws. Mary would explain what material the counter tops were and how great of quality everything was. It was so fun to be together.
My baby turned five on October 3rd! We celebrated a little early with my family. Lydia loved everyone singing to her, blowing out the candles and of course, the fun presents!
A huge thanks to Nate and Kiana. The Moana coloring book has kept Lydia busy for hours! It was all so thoughtful.
Lydia had her first day of ballet last Tuesday. She loved it! As soon as we came home she showed me all the steps she learned.
On Lydia's real birthday we celebrated with the Pecks at the Bounce N Slide. The kids had way too much fun and they were sufficiently worn out by the time we left. I was so grateful that Loren was there so I didn't have to climb through the obstacle course and save Allie. The girls had fun with their dad!
Afterwards we went back to our house for cake and ice cream. It was so fun to be with everyone and Lydia was elated with the new books she got from Grandma and Grandpa Peck. We've read the Bearnstain Bears book every day since then. So fun!
Thanks to everyone who made Lydia feel so special and loved!
Loren's Uncle Jack has been fighting cancer and may not make it much longer. On Friday night we traveled down the Elk Ridge for a surprise party for him. As soon as I joined the Peck family, Jack made sure I felt loved and welcome. He always went out of his way to ask me about me and has such a loving, sweet nature. It was nice to have most of the family there.
It was hard to stop the tears through the program. Dad sang, "One More Day" and Jack's kids sang songs for him as well.
Anyone who wanted to was invited to stand and tell Jack how they felt about him.
The most heart-wrenching part of the night for me was the daddy-daughter dance with each of his daughters since he won't be there on their weddings. The tears just flowed. I'm so grateful Loren and I were able to be there and let Jack know how he's influenced our lives. I'm grateful for the Plan and for the knowledge of eternal families.
