Heritage Days

One of our new favorite places to go is the Logan River trail. We usually don't end up walking very far on the trail because all these girls want to do is throw rocks in the water.

I love when I catch these moments. Lydia and Allie love books! We usually read about an hour or more a day.

It's incredibly rare that Loren's home before six but this night he was. We decided to have a movie night to celebrate.

Atticus came and spent the day with us while his parents were at a funeral. They must have spent an hour washing this bike. I guess it's the little things that are most exciting.

This past week we celebrated Nibley's Heritage Days. We started out with the 5k fun run. Lydia ran the 100 meter dash kid race and took 2nd place! She got a medal, headband, and food coupons. We're proud of our fast girl!

The only reason I took the stroller was to win the stroller category prize. Turns out I didn't win but the girls were great motivation to keep going. Lydia constantly kept telling me, "Great job, Mom," and "Don't slow down!"

Lydia couldn't stop smiling at the end when everyone was cheering. It was so cute.

Chris and Kristen invited to try out their new paddle boards with them one evening. We're definitely fans! They were so fun.

  My cute niece, Livinia.

The next Heritage Days activity was the Children's Theatre. They performed The Wonderful Wizard of Oz this year. Lydia was so excited and can't wait to participate next year. There was a record breaking number of kids this year, over 200! They did a great job and it was fun to get some one-on-one time with my girl.

The next morning we went to the parade and sat by Chris and Kristen. The kids were dumped on with candy. It was better than Halloween!

Allie was constantly asking us to open candy for her.

Aaron came up with a clever way to hold his candy.

Next were the activities and games at the park! We always have to ride the ponies. This was Allie's first ride and she loved it. We loved having Aaron with us too.

The kids were given cards and at each game booth they could get a stamp. Once they got so many stamps they were given a prize.  At this booth they made wooden tops. Those things spin forever!

Aaron really wanted to get inside these inflatable balls.  Of course that meant Lydia wanted to as well. Although I knew she'd hate it, I let her try. Just as I predicted, she started crying about two minutes into it. Aaron had fun knocking kids over and rolling around.

Aaron made it all the way to the top of the rock wall. Great job! We had such a fun time.

We're getting SO many raspberries on our bush. It's so fun to go out every morning and pick fresh raspberries! Though usually we don't bring this many in, the girls gobble them down really quick.

We had Aaron over for a few days this past week while Mom was at Stake Girls Camp. We kept busy with Refit, swimming, playing with cousins, and a trip to the Stokes Nature Center for story and activity time. The kids had fun in the sand pit.

I'd never been inside the building. I'm so glad we went, it was such a cool place!

We went on a scavenger hunt to find objects of different colors.

Afterwards we went to Arctic Circle for lunch and ice cream. Yum! It was fun to have Elizabeth and Lexie with us.

I wish she'd stay my sweet four year old forever!

Saturday was a BIG day. My grandparents home is finally finished and it was time to move them in. My parents are on their Caribbean cruise so they have no idea they now have their own home. They'll be so surprised and excited! We had all my uncles, aunts and cousins there to help. It took all day but we got it! I was so grateful for my cousin, Emily's kids who took care of Allie and played with Lydia. They were actually better help than I thought they'd be. We worked very hard and I'm proud of them.

Cute girls! Lydia, Nicole, Allie and Kelsey.

After we moved my grandparent's things out, it was all hands on deck to clean my parent's new home. I was overwhelmed with all the help we received. Uncle Scott brought his carpet cleaner and cleaned all the upstairs carpets.

Nate went and bought window cleaning supplies and cleaned ALL the windows, inside and out! I couldn't believe how hard he worked, he was sweating by the time he was done. It was so sweet and thoughtful. Todd mowed the lawn and Brayden and Loren helped clean and move boxes in. Aunt Karla and Leslie cleaned blinds, baseboards and walls. Aunt Karla also brought over a new kitchen table with matching chairs. So grateful for incredible family.

Mom and Dad get home late tonight and we're so excited for them to be in their own home! An exciting new chapter of their life has begun. I love my family and their willingness to always serve and help each other. We are very blessed!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
