One Hundred Years and Counting

Last Monday Daddy decided to make cookies for FHE. He had two great little helpers!

Last week was Brayden's Region swim meet.  Loren and I were able to watch his 50 and 100 yard freestyle.  He did so great! A new PR for the year and qualified for State.  In the photo he's the third from the right, blue speed suit and grey cap.  Check out his abs! He is one ripped swimmer.  We're very proud of him.

Last Saturday we celebrated Loren's Great-Grandma's 100th birthday! It was a party to remember.  I loved all the decorations, it was beautiful!

We had a yummy dinner catered by Iron Gate Grill. Lovely!

There was also a raffle with fun prizes.

  Allie won this cute bunny.

Dorothy is the most inspirational woman you'll ever meet.  She lost three children but her unwavering faith in the gospel helped her survive it.  She has the cutest sense of humor and is so positive and uplifting.  She's truly one of a kind.

Dorothy holding her newest great-great grandchild, Livinia.

 Five generation pictures.

It was quite a feat to get the whole family together in one picture.  They had to take a panorama and move this black backdrop all the way around the gym behind everyone as they took the shots.  We had to hold very still, which was a little tricky with the kids.  I'm excited to see how it turns out.

Such a wonderful evening celebrating an incredible woman.

One of our new favorite things to do is go to Refit.  Its an exercise class that my cousin, Emily teaches at the Nibley Stake Center.  It's a great workout and it's fun to see my cousin's, Liz, Shalise and Maddie and their kids who come too.  Lydia is the only kid who actually exercises the whole hour with us.  Emily invited Lydia to lead the class on the stage with her and she was in heaven! I couldn't help but snap a picture.  Maybe she's destined to be a fitness instructor.

You know you've crossed the threshold into adulthood when you get more excited about your new freezer than Christmas.  SO excited for this! Now I can buy more food in bulk when its on sale, which will help our grocery budget.  I also bought 40 pounds of chicken from Zaycon on a killer sale and we needed somewhere to put it, so thus, this freezer arrived.

Happy Birthday, Brayden! We loved getting together with my family to celebrate Brayd! We had yummy brownies and ice cream and played a fun game called Psych.  We sure love him!

We forgot the candles so we used matches. They worked almost as well.

Last week was a loooooong week. It was spent mostly on the couch or in the bathroom. Allie got the stomach flu first, then me then Lydia.  There was long nights cleaning up messes, changing sheets and bathing sick girls. Poor babies.  But we somehow survived and are on the mend.. knock on wood.  Loren hasn't got it yet so we're all crossing our fingers he stays healthy. Being sick is no fun but it's definitely easier to handle when wonderful family is there to help.  Thanks for all the meals and help with the girls, we're so grateful and it means so much.

Lydia watched a Curious George show where they did experiments with ice.  She wanted to try her own experiment and freeze water with fruit loops in it.  Im not sure why, but I put them in the popsicle molds.  When Lydia pulled them out to inspect them, of course she wanted to eat one.  I explained it actually wasn't a popsicle, but that didn't deter her. And once Lydia had one, of course Allie needed one too.  So here they are, eating their ice and soggy, mushy fruit loops.

It was close to 50 degrees yesterday! We were all going a little stir crazy so we went on a walk to the Logan Nature Trail.  The girls had a blast, especially Allie.  She couldn't stop giggling and loved finding long sticks to hold and poke us all with.  It was a relaxing and fun way to spend the morning.

We found a duck and Allie could hardly contain herself.  She now can tell us the duck says, "quack".

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
