The Wedding

Glad I caught this sisterly moment at church the other day.

Lydia was so excited to write her letter to Santa! After she finished she walked to the mailbox with me and sent it. She asked him if he could bring a doctor kit this year. Don't worry, I really know how to spell Santa Clause. Claouse. Claus.

Last weekend we went to the Nibley City Christmas party.  Lydia was so excited to see Santa then when she sat on his lap, wouldn't say a word.  Silly girl!

Loren and I received the best present from my parents for Loren's birthday.  They sent us to see Nathan Pacheco's Christmas concert.  I can't remember the last time Loren and I went on a date, just the two of us.  It was so rejuvenating! Nathan has a beautiful voice and was the just the thing we needed to get into the Christmas spirit.  Such a thoughtful gift!

Lydia's last day of dance was last week.  Parents were invited to come watch what they do during a typical class.  It was so cute! I feel bad she's not doing it next semester but it will give her a chance to try some other things.

Last Friday all my family was here for Emily's wedding the next day so we decided to have our family Christmas party.  Mom, Em, Brayden and Todd sang a beautiful song.  Those four can harmonize so well! I always love to listen to them.

Lydia and Loren performed Feliz Navidad and then Mary and Greyson with I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. Then Nate ended with a few punny jokes.  It was so nice!
After that was the nativity.  Greyson was Joseph, Lydia was Mary and Allie a sheep.

After opening our gifts from each other, we headed over to the church to start decorating it for Em's reception.  Kiana and Nate were champs at figuring out these lights after we blew a fuse.  After hours of re-stringing and driving around finding extension cords, we finally got them to work.  Hopefully everyone really enjoyed them! A big thank you to Grandma Swan for letting us borrow them.
Mary was the inspiration behind it all.  She made the beautiful centerpieces, all the decorations, the wedding cake and so much more.  Can I say how grateful we all are to have her in the family?? It was gorgeous all thanks to her and everyone else that helped.

The morning of the ceremony was crazy! Loren and I didn't leave our house until nine and the ceremony was scheduled to start at 9:15! Add to that, it had snowed the night before which made the roads super slick.  I was a nervous wreck and praying we'd make it in time.  We made to the temple at 9:20, and everyone had already gone up to the sealing room.  I was frantically asking any temple worker I could see if they knew which room Em was in.  They couldn't figure it out and I was almost in tears and ready to bolt up the stairs to find them myself.  Just then I saw a worker walking quickly towards us asking, "Are you the Pecks? Please come with me!" Thank the heavens! The worker led us up to the sealing room and we slipped in the door just after they started.  I'm forever grateful that we made it, it was such a tender mercy. Apparently my family was frantic and Nate tried calling me from the temple phone and when that didn't work, found a worker to come find us. Thanks to Nate, we made it!  After a beautiful ceremony we waited for the happy couple to make their appearance outside.  They looked so happy and Em was absolutely gorgeous.  Such a beautiful couple!

After pictures we made our way to the Nibley Stake Center for the luncheon.  It was beautiful and delicious!  Brayden put together an amazing slide show of Em and Tyson that we watched after we ate. He's very talented with those kinds of things.

Had to get a picture of those lights.  It took way too much work not to document them.

Pre-reception

Cutting the cake Mary made.  I heard it was incredible!

Of course Em had to have a dance at the end of the reception! Here was the daddy-daughter dance.

Grandpa cut in.  He can still waltz just as amazing as the rest of them!

First dance as a married couple.

  Mary's beautiful work again.

Even Lydia and Greyson got into the dancing spirit!

It was such a beautiful and perfect day! Though the morning after, we had to take our post-wedding hangover pics.

A couple days later I went shopping and took a picture of Allie stacking the cans.  I was amazed when Grandma Peck sent me one of her doing the same thing at Allie's age! What a fun find!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
