Surviving the Bar

These past few months have been so crazy. It's hard to know how to catch up.
This was Lydia's first time wearing curlers! I remember my mom putting the same type of curler in my hair every Saturday night when I was little. Lydia loved it. I thought they'd be hard for her to sleep in but it wasn't too bad.

They worked so great! Lydia's hair is really fine and thin so I was skeptical but I give these curlers 5 stars out of 5.

Allie gave me this face after I told her it was time to put her helmet back on.

Having our scripture time before bed.

Morning snuggles. Loren is the best and gets up with the girls early in the morning so I can sleep in a little.

Another cold, snowy day called for fruit loop necklaces.

Sarah came down to watch a trial with Loren at the Court. She stopped by for awhile afterwards, much to Lydia's delight. They had fun dancing to Moana.

Lydia was being really quiet in her room for a long time one morning so I snuck in to see what she was doing. She had read almost all the books on her shelf! Lydia absolutely loves reading. We could read for hours and hours. One of the highlights of the week is going to the library to pick new stories. Lately she especially looks forward to more Thomas the Train stories.

A couple weeks ago it was 50 degrees! We decided it was a good time to stop by the park. While we were there we ran into our friend, Isabel. We've watched Isabel a few times while her mom has class. She's a cutie.

Lydia's new thing is ignoring me or pretending like she doesn't hear me. It's been driving me bonkers! One day I made her a "good listener" chart. It's worked wonders! She's much more obedient which makes me a happy momma. Lydia filled up all the boxes on her chart which meant we got to go get chicken nuggets! What a happy day.

For Aaron's birthday Lindsay made these AMAZING tarts. They were as delicious as they looked.

Oh the Bar. For the past 10 months it's been on our minds, stressing us to no end. The past two months have been especially brutal with Loren locked in the room downstairs, and me trying to keep the girls quiet and out of his hair. It's been a long, lonely, stressful and mind-numbing ride. Thankfully the court gave Loren two weeks off work to majorly study. I'm not sure he could have done it without that. The night before the Bar, Loren needed a break so we went to Pei Wei for dinner. It was delicious!

 Even Lydia loved it.

We thought Loren's fortune was right on the money.

 We have some wonderful friends.
Then in two days it was over! The first day was the essay portion and Loren was one of eight out of 150 people who didn't pay $150 to use a computer to type. His hand was pretty dead at the end of the day but he thought he did well. The next day was multiple choice, which was a lot harder. It was brutal but he made it! And now we don't ever have to think of it again! Well, until the results come that is.
The girls were so happy to finally get some quality daddy time. Loren and Lydia played "train tracks" in the snow.

They built our first snowman of the season.

Since Loren had a date with his books on Valentines Day, he told me we'd be really celebrating the day after the Bar. So when he came home after the Bar, he came bearing gifts! I'm quite the lucky girl. Flowers, bath bombs and dry shampoo. He knows me well.

 Happy people!

I got some huge news from my mom a couple weeks ago. My parents are moving! They've decided to build a home in Nibley next to my grandparents and three uncles. It's been kind of a shock since it's all happening so fast but I'm so excited for them. We made some wonderful memories in our home of 16 years, but change is good too. It's already shaping out to be quite an adventure for them, trying to fix up and sell the house while making plans and building their new one. It's going to be a very busy next few months.
I signed Lydia up for swimming lessons and soccer. Swimming starts March 13th and soccer starts the middle of April into May. I'm so excited! It should be fun.
Thank you all for supporting Loren and I through these past few months. We've felt strength through your prayers and thoughts. We have the most wonderful family and friends.

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
