We've had a fun past few weeks. We went with Cam, Mary and Greyson to the Gateway Children's Museum a couple Saturday's ago. These two had a blast!
We've had to start bundling up for our walks in the mornings. Allie makes a pretty cute Eskimo.
We watched Todd's football game last Saturday. He did great and Lydia and Greyson had fun cheering him on.
Loren and I hadn't been able to visit Charlie's grave since the funeral. We were a little anxious about what emotions we'd feel up there. We went with the family on Sunday. There were difficult moments, reality hit us hard. We miss his smile. We miss his laugh. We miss him.
Lydia had a birthday! This cute girl turned three on the 3rd. She was so excited about her birthday. She had Minnie Mouse pancakes for dinner and loved it. We had fun opening presents and being together.
Yes, I got her dinosaurs. For some reason she absolutely loves them. Funny girl.
We went on a fun nature walk to see the fall leaves. I sure love this time of year.
Last Saturday we went to Hee Haw Farms in Pleasant Grove with Cam, Mary and Greyson. It was such a blast! Pretty much everything we wanted to do with the kids in the fall we did there. The first thing Lydia and Greyson wanted to do was ride the farm animal train.
Tractor time!
I'm not sure how many times Lydia rode down this slide. I stopped keeping track after ten.
Hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins!
Her dreams were fulfilled when she got to ride this pony.
Trying to figure out the straw maze.
To end the day we played in the corn kernel pit. I'd never seen so much corn in my life. It was strangely therapeutic to sit in.
We were emptying corn out of her pants the rest of the night.
We had a terrifying experience on our way home. We had just merged onto the interstate and were in the far right lane. Loren briefly looked in his blind spot to change lanes and when he turned back the cars in front of him had suddenly stopped. Still going 70 miles per hour, he yanked on the steering wheel narrowly missing (as in probably centimeters) hitting the car in front of us. That caused us to start fish-tailing right and left across all lanes of traffic. How we missed the other cars whizzing past us I'll never know. Finally our car stopped on the other side of the freeway, and we were then facing oncoming traffic. Loren blared the horn to get the cars to slow down. We quickly turned back around and continued on our way. I was shaking and both girls were crying hysterically in the back. I know we had a guardian angel because it was incomprehensible that we didn't hit anyone swerving over all lanes of traffic. In my prayers that night, I sincerely thanked Heavenly Father and also Charlie, our guardian angel, for protecting us. I hope nothing like that ever happens again.
Sunday was Allie's blessing day. I felt bad making all our family drive so far so early but it was really nice to do it in our own ward. I don't know how we're blessed with the supportive, loving family that we are. It was so nice to share that special day with them and realize that families really are forever. I find comfort in thinking that Charlie was standing in the blessing circle too. Loren gave a beautiful blessing. I know Allie's a very special girl and she has a lot to do in her life. After church we went back to our place and had a nice lunch. To add a cherry to the top of our amazing day, we all color coordinated without even trying! How amazing do we look?!
Families are forever! We missed Chris and Kristen and Emily. So grateful for all these beautiful, wonderful people.
Finally had some time to glance over your blog today. You have a lot going on. So glad you are all OK after the interstate incident. Scary!
