Wow, it's been awhile since we've posted on here. Well, we're happy to announce that we survived the road trip to Lexington with most of out sanity intact. It's safe to say that Loren and I can sing all of the Frozen songs forwards, backwards and in our sleep. We found out afterwards that Lydia was getting a tooth in, so she was miserable a lot of the time. We traveled about 7 hours a day, which was the stopping point for Lydia. We're so grateful to dad Rigby for getting us such nice hotels. They were perfect and just what Lydia needed after a long day.
Lydia liked walking around the pool more than swimming in it. She gave Loren a workout going round and round while I watched happily from the hot tub :)
Hotel halls are perfect for learning to walk. This little one could have been out there for hours going up and down.
We always love our stop in Missouri with the Davidsons. Lydia absolutely loved playing with the kids. I think she was having withdrawals from being away from all the family so she was in heaven. We visited, had a delicious dinner, and watched what we thought was going to be the first fifteen minutes of The Saratov Approach, because it was so late, but couldn't peel ourselves away and watched the whole thing. What a fun time we had. Thanks for being our home-away-from-home. Can't wait to see them all at Christmas!
We were so happy to finally make it home! Our landlady left flowers and a 'welcome home' sign for us. It was a surreal feeling to know that the last time Lydia was here she couldn't even sit up yet. Things are going to be a lot different this year. Sure enough, this is what we deal with 7 times a day. I'm not even sure why I clean it up anymore..
We've had so much fun this week! There's a couple from Salt Lake, Clint and Michelle Williams who are starting their first year of law school. They have a little girl, Adeline, who is just a month older than Lydia. It's been so much fun to have them here. We've gone on walks, played at the park and have just enjoyed getting to know each other. We've dubbed Adeline and Lydia best friends as they share almost everything- even their sippy cups. I'm so excited that Lydia has a friend and that I have someone who knows exactly what I'm going through with Lydia. I'll get pics of them soon.
Thursday night we went with the Williams to a law school barbecue. Loren remembered after we got there that this was the 'get-as-drunk-as-possible-before-school-starts' night so we just sat at our own table with our bottled water and babies on our laps. Crazy enough, Clint introduced us to a first year who is also LDS. He's probably 45ish and is married with kids. When we asked him why he was at law school, he said because his wife told him to. Basically, it's something he hasn't done before and might be fun. His reasons for coming are a little different than ours but it's been fun to get to know him. He invited us over to watch the BYU game Friday night. Between keeping Lydia from destroying their DVD's, and keeping her quiet so they could hear, Loren and I didn't get to watch much of the game. But it was fun to visit anyway and Loren was able to support his Cougars.
Saturday was the ward picnic and it was great to see everyone again. Beside the fact that it was 95% humidity, we had a good time. Lydia especially enjoyed herself as there was a big rock pile and she could sort and eat them to her heart's content. I was also able to hit a yard sale, which I bought 2 DVD's (bednobs and broomsticks, whinnie the pooh), a children's music CD, and a fish game for just five bucks. They also threw in a Hungry Catipillar stuffed animal for free cuz they thought Lydia was cute. Score. Yard sales are the bomb.
Loren starts school tomorrow. Here's to another school year and all the craziness that comes with it. We hope you've all had a great week! We love you all so much. Thanks for your prayers and support!
Oh I miss you already! Love this post - little people seem to give us a run for our money, don't they? So glad you arrived back safe and with most of your sanity. ;)
