Snow Day!

I can't remember the last time we had a snow day in Utah, it just doesn't happen. Even when the roads are covered in two feet of snow, school must go on. Well last Tuesday we woke up to an inch of snow on the ground and the roads were bare. Loren checked his email and to our delight found out school was cancelled because of the weather! We enjoyed our first snow day since like second grade, it was fantastic. We went and got some ice cream- fitting for a snow day- and then Loren made some delicious soup. It was a great day!     Lydia is growing and changing so much! Everyday she develops a new skill or learns something new. Her new best friends are her toes. She loves to hold them and will reach for them anytime she can. Even when I'm holding her she'll bend over my arm to reach them. It's so funny! She also has discovered her tongue and loves to stick it out as far as she can. With all these new discoveries, who has time to sleep? Lydia is now sleeping three hours ...

Finally Feels like Winter!

The weather was so nice last week and then all the sudden we had a skiff of snow and freezing temperatures this morning. I guess it's still winter here in Virginia.    Loren started his new classes this week. It was a little hard to get back into the groove of things but he thinks this semester won't be quite so hard as last. Still a lot of work but he won't have to spend so much time figuring out how to take notes, study, etc.      Tuesday Loren came home and asked if I wanted to go out to dinner.  I wouldn't have to cook? Sure thing! When we got to the restaurant he surprised me by saying that he got the internship with Judge Stewart for the summer! That means that we'll be in Utah! I was elated and so proud of the hard work he did last semester. It will be such a great experience and we're excited to be close to family.    Lydia's made big leaps this week. She rolled over from her tummy to her back for the first time! She'll try ...

Back in Virginia

While Jamie was in Utah, I stayed in Virginia to finish classes and study for finals.  It was so hard to be away from Jamie and Lydia, but I was able to study for 10 or 12 (or 14) hours a day, something I felt like I needed because I'd missed so many days of classes when Lydia was born. On December 13th, I had my first final (in my Criminal Law class) and I was shocked at how rigorous the test was.  The test was basically a short story several pages long full of conspiracy, armed robbery, and different types of homicides.  We had 4 hours to discuss all the legal issues in the story and make arguments about the likelihood of conviction, death penalty, etc.  When the proctor called time, I had more than 17 double-spaced pages typed up. I was so drained after the first test that I couldn't imagine going back and doing it again, but I survived them all!  On my way out to Utah on December 21st, one of my flights was cancelled and I had to spend the night in Roa...
