Happy 6 weeks!

We have been so terrible at updating! It's funny how free time goes out the window with a little one. It's so crazy that Lydia is 6 weeks old. How are the nights so long but the weeks go so fast? Our lives have turned upside down with our new little addition. It's hard to remember the days where we could go and do what we wanted when we wanted. But we are enjoying our little Lydia so much, she is a cutie!

This week has been crazy! The main event has been Lydia's 6 week growth spurt. No one ever told me about growth spurts, I just had a vague idea that babies have them but didn't know what they entailed. Well now we know. Lydia wanted to eat constantly- at least every hour. When she wasn't eating, she was crying. One night she slept only one hour. I didn't think we would survive, she pushed us both to our limits. I'm hoping that the spurt is over and we can regain what little of a schedule she had before. We have never been through such a rodeo and I hope we don't have to again!
Lydia has such a beautiful smile! She's been smiling a lot more lately and it melts my heart. It makes up for all the trying times. She's close to 10 pounds now and is getting bigger every day.  I sure love our little girl.

Getting ready for church in my new baby-wearing attire ... already 5 minutes late!

 Lydia loves her bouncy chair!

Thursday was the first night I got out of the house for more than an hour without Lydia. I went to a relief society dinner and it was so nice to talk with the other sisters because I don't get to on Sunday with primary. Even though it was nice to get out, I found myself constantly wondering how Lydia was doing- if she was screaming, if Loren was getting any school work done, etc. I ended up leaving early because I was so worried. It seems like I can't go anywhere without her on my mind!

That meant that I got to watch Lydia! I love my time with her and wish I didn't have to be at school so much. On Friday Lydia fell asleep in her wrap and I sat down and studied while she slept. Baby time and study time - all at the same time. I'll be glad when finals are over, but I am enjoying my classes.

Almost all the sidewalks in Lexington are made of brick.

When Lydia fell asleep today we decided to journey outside and take a walk since it was so nice. We walked down to the River Trail and it was gorgeous! The above pics are from our walk.

Earlier this month we had one of our first real “date nights” together since Lydia has joined our family. Lydia had a rough day, so we decided to pick up some food and go for a drive towards Buena Vista because Lydia likes car rides. We went to Wendy’s and got a wrap, a chicken-burger, fries and a frosty. Just then, Lydia woke up and started crying. Loud.
She cried all the way to the park we were going to, so Jamie hopped in back and tried to get her to sleep. White noise helps calm Lydia down, so we turned the radio to a station that just hissed. We ended up sitting in the parking lot, me in the front seat, Jamie in the back, eating our Wendy’s and listening to the radio crackle. Date night has a new meaning now - just being together.
Well I wish I could write more but its 7:30 pm and Lydia's asleep. That means its bedtime! We're getting so excited to see everyone when we fly out! Love you all!

Home Again!

The end of another school year is here and with it brings our cross country road trip to Utah. Yay! We planned our trip two months in advance because my dad needed time to book our hotels. At the time, it seemed like common sense to leave right after Loren's last final on Thursday. I mean, what did we have to wait around for? The sooner the better!    Fast forward a week before we were to leave, I was seriously questioning our decision making abilities. Why didn't we just wait to leave on Friday so Loren could help me pack and finish cleaning? I still had a million things to do and couldn't get any of it done with Lydia wanting my attention. Loren was busy studying for finals and I felt guilty asking him for any help. What the blazes were we thinking?! It was a stressful time, to say the least.    One morning we woke to sirens and fire engines blaring. The visitors center had caught on fire! There was smoke everywhere and we spent the rest of the mornin...

"Grandma and Grandpa- Fun!"

One thing i've really missed while being in Virginia is going to our siblings competitions and events. It's been so fun to be able to see them all in action this month.    Todd and Brendan were both involved in a debate competition. I was really impressed with how well they did, it's a scary thing but they did great!   The Wellsville mile is one of my favorite events of the year. It seems like theres more kids every time and they keep getting faster. We were so proud of Todd and Brendan, they both ran personal best times. Lydia had a blast watching all the kids, she wanted to run with them! Todd's enterauge. Emily and her friends were able to run with him. Great job boys!   This girl has amazed me with her dancing. She's grown so much from last year and is such a gorgeous dancer. It's so much fun to watch her. We went to her end of year dance performance and had a great time. Thank goodness for Loren, he's the only one who remembers to camera to take pictu...

Thanksgiving Bash!.. and Crash

I have to say, this past week has been the most fun and exhausting week we've had in a long time.  But before we get into that, we had our first snowfall a couple weeks ago.  Lydia was DYING to make a snowman so daddy went out and helped her make one. They had a blast!   Here's some of Lydia's school papers.    The weekend before Thanksgiving our basement flooded.  One of the tubes that hook onto the gutter was pointed directly towards our house instead of away.  Thus, we had water in our family room and the unfinished room.  It kept coming in for two days.  About every 10 minutes we had to suck up the water on the first day, then about every hour on the second.  I think we have learned our lesson and plan on digging trenches to make a more efficient drainage system.  Thanks to everyone who helped! No permanent damage was done and we're so grateful.   Loren had a guys night with his...
